I am very happy with the service and care I received at Weill Cornell. From the moment I walked in I was greeted politely and assisted with checking in. While waiting in the waiting room I was politely notified by a staff that Dr. Scherl was a little behind her schedule and that I will be called in shortly. When I was called in Dr. Scherl personally walked in the room and apologized to me that she is running a little behind schedule and that she will be seeing me as soon as possible. This was my first visit and Dr. Scherl along with her colleague Dr. Donevan Westerveld were really locked in listening to all the issues and thoroughly reviewed all test results that I brought and went over my medical history. They were very professional, caring and really determined to help me. Before I went to see Dr. Scherl I was seen at NUY IBD Center and doctors there treated me in a very dismissive way and did not want to help me at all by rerunning one test and sending me back to my local doctor even though I have a serious disease which I am suffering from for years. I left their office crying. However after seeing Dr. Scherl I was very satisfied and happy that there are doctors who sincerely want to help me and began working on helping me with dealing with my chronic condition. We need more dedicated and knowledgeable doctors like Dr. Scherl and Dr. Westerveld. I completely recommend them and give them 6...

I had been misdiagnosed here in NE PA, and was probably a few weeks away from dying when a friend of a friend said I should see Dr Scherl. The same day I contacted her the office assessed it was an emergency and got me right in to see her, and I was admitted to Weil Cornell Presbyterian Hospital. Two days latter, after dozens of tests, I was given the correct diagnosis, and my recovery started after a year from hell!    Read moreDr. Ellen Scherl is like an angel. I’ve been her patient for almost 4 years now. I feel like family when I go see her, Svetla and team. They all care about you. Dr. Scherl treated me into remission in 2014, with the bleeding stopping within just days of seeing her. After being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2011, I had seen several Gastrointestinal Doctors in Brooklyn and Manhattan. None can compare, at all, to Dr. Scherl and her program. This is not just go in, get meds and go home. This is crucial for remission and why her program works. There are a team of nurses, nutritionists and a world renown surgical team. This is why she has done for me what no other GI doctor could. Dr. Scherl has changed my life for the better. Huge BONUS, no matter how busy she is, she is so kind and caring. She will call you at night if you’re having any emergency issues. Every procedure she’s done, she has put me at ease. I highly recommend Dr. Scherl if you are suffering with inflammatory...
