We’re back Kuu Ramen to check out their latest menu. The spotlights of the new drop are definitely the chili crispy pork ramen and karaage omusoba. Their dishes tasty and visually appealing as always.
*Chili Crispy Pork Spicy Ramen An interesting and creative combo. This ramen tastes like a Szechuanese fusion to me, as the spicy chicken paitan broth and spicy ground chicken reminds me of dan dan noodle. While crispy pork chashu is like a japanese version of cantonese roasted pork belly (燒肉). It is quite spicy in my standard.
*Omusoba Karaage Another new item! Idk why they didn’t show it on the menu but glad I noticed it on their social. VERY DELICIOUS! The yakisoba is envelopped with a thin layer of omelette egg. A chicken karaage skewer is put on top drizzled with spicy mayo. Only available at UES location!
*Sukiyaki Beef Curry Rice** We really loved their curry rice last time so we ordered again. The sukiyaki beef is well marinated and every bite is bursting with flavor. The curry is cooked with potato and carrot, giving it a sweeter taste.
*Spicy Tuna Tartare** Crispy gyoza chips topped with mashed spicy tuna, avocado and scallion. It is a light and flavorful appetizer. We very much enjoyed it.
*Salmon Avocado Handroll The handroll is in a good portion size, neatly wrapped with nori, salmon and avocado. A classic and refreshing appetizer.
*Takoyaki** The takoyaki has a crispy outside, filled with creamy batter and bits of octopus. The size is smaller than the ones I ate in Japan, but it is perfect for one bite.
*Handrolls (Salmon Avocado, Spicy Tuna) The tuna handroll balances spice and flavor well and wraps it all together with soft rice and crunchy seaweed.
*Spicy Chili Mazemen** Been eyeing this mazemen long before I visited as I prefer brothless ramen. The noodles are thicker and hold the sauces and runny egg yolk well. The pork belly is bit overcooked though, but the minced pork on the side is a great addition. The mazemen is not shown on their main menu. Make sure to ask the staff!
*Spicy Tonkatsu Miso Ramen The spicy tonkatsu broth was soooo flavorful. The spice is noticeable yet not overpowering. We can’t really taste the miso though. They use thinner ramen for this bowl, and a perfectly cooked ramen egg.
*Beef Menchi Curry Rice Curry and katsu mixes to give a good contrast in texture and flavor with the soft juicy beef...
Read moreCome, my friends. Let me tell you a story. A story of love. A story of hunger. A story of Kuu. It was a warm autumn night, a covidy night, and, I yearned. I yearned for ramen. I yearned for ramen just as I had on many a nights’ past. It was a yearning in my heart, and not my belly, as, the Iittle Jewish boy that I am, happen to be a tonkatsu ramen elitist (that’s pork based broth for those unfamiliar) but I wanted… no, I needed… something lighter on this particular evening. Could it have been the double Shack Burger and black and white shake earlier in the day? Perhaps… perhaps. Nevertheless, on this particular evening, I wanted something lighter. And while my heart said ramen, my belly said pho. A modern twist on the classic tale of “Chinese or Thai” but tonight… tonight my friends, it was Japanese or Vietnamese. A man torn, I was- deciding- no, vacillating, between ramen or pho on this particular evening on the upper east side of the center of the universe. My culinary excursion succumbed to the desires of my first true love- ramen, albeit reluctantly. ‘Twas then, after a quick google maps search, that decided upon, and shortly thereafter stumbled into Kuu. And this… this is where my story begins, because on this night, I was feeling not only adventurous, but trying my best to strike a balance between heart and gut, compromise, and harmony within myself. And when I gazed upon the menu, it was at that moment when I decided to try something I’d dared not try before; scorned even, being a tonkatsu elitist and all. I ordered the Okinawa Shio. A salt base, and traditionally lighter type of ramen. Kuu my god! Amazing. A light, flavorful broth; the noodles, oh the noodles… just reaching al dente when the dish was presented to me. The chicken Katsu?… Know what? Go! Just go and find out for yourself. You don’t need to read my silly review to find quality ramen on the upper east side. Just go to...

My pregnant wife and I went to the hospital for a check-up because she is pregnant, and we were very hungry. We found this place, and I ordered two beef ramens. We took them with us and ate in the car because it was difficult to find parking.
After two hours, my pregnant wife felt very sick; she was nauseous and started vomiting. Then, an hour later, I also began to feel unwell, became very nauseous, and started vomiting as well.
We often buy ramen and always feel fine, but this ramen gave us stomach pains and made us vomit. I believe there is a serious issue with the food that needs to be investigated to prevent this from happening to others.
I would appreciate it if you could conduct a thorough investigation into this incident. I have the receipt for the purchase, which I paid using Apple Pay, and I am happy to provide it as part of this process.
I do not recommend this place and await...
