I wouldn't give this place even 1 star. The staff who don't speak English still were trying to be helpful, but the owner is purely inconsiderate about people's religious beliefs. I ordered 2 chicken club sandwiches for 2 of my Muslim friends during the month of Ramadan. I specifically asked for Chicken only on the sandwich only on the sandwich. Workers probably didn't understand me probably as i don't speak Spanish. But somehow I conveyed the massage and asked to confirm if the club sandwiches i ordered didn't have any other meat than chicken. Because while I was waiting i looked at the menu and saw chicken club sandwiches come with ham on it. Employees already had put ham on the sandwich. So i asked to get me a new sandwich that had no contact with any pork because it was for my Muslim friends. The employee goes to the owner to see if they can make me a new sandwich, The owner asked them to remove the ham and give me the sandwiches. Totally inconsiderate behavior. I went to a different place and got my friends some food that they could eat but I have attached pictures of the club sandwiches i got from them. No filling between 2...
Read moreCame and ordered a fruit smoothie and jugo de avena with 2 empanadas and a cachapa. The jugo de avena was probably the worst I've ever had from any spot I've been to - it's as if all they did was blend straight oats with milk and that's it. Very grainy and watery consistency, instead of it being smooth. The fruit smoothie also didn't taste like it had all the fruits it was supposed to have. The masa of the cachapa wasn't great either and honestly was small for what it cost. Empanadas were alright but nothing out of this world. We asked how long the order would take so we could go get some other things and come back and they said 15 minutes. Come back and our drinks weren't even made so they made them both literally in less than 5 minutes, which I figure is why they came out so bad. Total was $35 for everything and was too much for what we got in my opinion. Probably wouldn't return, there's so many other spots on St Nicholas selling...
Read moreI was looking for empanadas in the Heights and guess what?! I couldn’t find ANY in a 5 block radius. (Smh @ gentrification). Anyways I stumbled upon this and They all had on their masks, it wasn’t packed, the music was playing at a comfortable level unlike most places in the area, and they quickly asked if I needed help AND gave a suggestion. I bought 1 pastelito and tried out their lil mofongo cups thingies. While it didn’t satisfy my craving for the taste of mofongo it was pretty good and such a clever idea. Wish cheese was a bit more melted. Their “special sauce” is okay and again I wish it had that mofongo taste BUT if i had the munchies I’m sure it would’ve checked all the boxes. Hope this Latinx...
