Just left and looking fabulous. Thanks Helen! This was my 2nd time there. Mirna gives the best head massage during the hair washes. The owner was nice and the receptionist always helpful & pleasant. I actually had an appointment somewhere else and canceled because i walked by & saw they weren't busy so i did a wash/blow dry since i was already there. However, the space is small...maybe 6 chairs...so ventilation wasn't great. There was an elderly woman by the wash bowl getting and it smelled of thick chemicals. The staff was helpful by opening the door. But when they came back from a smoke break the door shut. So i asked to open it again. I have asthma and possibly pregnant so the fumes were strong for me. Headache & nausea would have hit me. But the bald guy doing the womans hair was rude to me and made an unnecessary comment. Hence the rating. I was about to leave and take my business elsewhere but they moved me to a chair closest to the door and asked me not to be upset. I would never recommend him with that attitude. I was completely dressed down and maybe being on the UES i didn't look like a valuable client but ever customer has value. Being that i have been in hospitality for more than 20 years, frequent hair salons and have friends who own their own all over the Country....i was just rubbed the wrong way. I say this to explain why i rarely give 5 stars and why the 4 star rating dropped to 3. Kudos to the rest of the team. I would recommend the salon but in New york salons are everywhere....so customer service...

Over the past few years I’ve gotten 10+ basic shampoos and cuts here booked via ClassPass without issue.
When I showed up for my appointment today the staff complained non stop about the inconvenience of me booking with class pass. Apparently they have 2 separate books and I should have called after booking my appointment. If that is in fact their policy it should be clearly stated on ClassPass. Businesses also have the option to structure bookings that way on the app. The burden should not be passed on to the customer.
Once a stylist was assigned to be she was clearly displeased with having to perform the cut. She spent the entire time complaining about how I booked and getting upset with other staff members. She kept repeating that she knew all of the dirty secrets about the business and was going to call 311 and that folks should know better than to try her.
With all this going on she paid little to no attention to what she was doing to my hair. Within 5 minutes of leaving the salon I realized that my cut was extremely uneven and would have to be redone. I asked for one even length and ended up with a...
Read moreLast time I was here, I loved my haircut so much I tipped 30%. It is such a shame and disappointment this time around from multiple people in the store. I came for my 8 am appt and was pushed back to 1030 am. Which I was fine with. I asked for a blowout with loose gentle curls and the stylist gave me chunky barrel curls with random straight pieces of hair. I told her it looks nothing like the reference photo and it is not what i wanted. she said "This is all I can do for you and I have another client now" so I asked another stylist if they could try to fix it and they said I cannot. I went to the front and told the receptionist what happened and she offered to have another stylist to fix it and I was thinking about it when two of the employees said "Just let her go, she doesnt want to pay" as if I was doing all this for a free ugly blow out.
