Traveled to this store right before closing time. If you’re not intending on buying you will not be allowed to try on items. That’s what I was told upon walking in anyway. The lengha skirt I purchased from here ended up having many pieces of string hanging from the seams & a stain on the front of which I noticed when I came home. Heritage India refused to issue a refund. In addition, this was a faulty item & not my fault. I was very calm & thought to myself, let me try to then exchange it for something else that could work, but with the limited variety of formal tops & skirts, nothing worked for me. I was looking for a matching set. I was brought to tears in the store because of how I was spoken to, Ruchi raised her voice when I said I wanted to return the skirt calmly after trying other options for hours. This was all w/in the alleged 7 day period which she did not tell me of upon checking out. I was the only customer there in store. Beware of this, as you can not see these signs, especially if you are coming in right before closing or are short like myself. It was only mentioned that I could exchange as I was leaving & my receipt was given to me folded, but never that there was a no return policy. That’s something you should state, especially if it’s not in clear eye view. I’ve been robbed of my money & it pains me to say that, but I have. I left feeling anxious, upset & without a traditional formal Indian look I would be proud in at my very first mehndi & sangeet. While she was nice during me trying to find something on the initial day I arrived, things went sour fairly quickly when there was nothing to fit my bust or there were limited formal matching sets, no fit. I’m a petite woman, & I know how to make things work but nothing was working & if it did work there was no top. You would think since nothing else was working that Heritage India would issue a refund. I left with fabric which was a new purchase but she tried to make it seem like it was just part of the exchange & custom charge me the difference of $15 extra for the cost of the fabric. Mind you, she wouldn’t even wrap it on me to show me how it would look after I had so much trouble. I understand it takes time but it doesn’t take that long to give a person a true idea. She ended up putting it on me w/o opening it fully. Apparently there is a charge to have it wrapped but I was not attending the wedding here & then. They do not allow pictures of any kind & if you are trying to FaceTime, she wants to hold the phone. I would never shop here again. I spent over $500 on a non formal top as nothing else fit my bust size & fabric I wasn’t allowed to fully open up unless I wrapped it myself. Not one of those people who actually leaves reviews constantly as I try give the benefit of the doubt & people second chances, but this is still weighing on my mind how I was treated so poorly in the end. After spending hours really trying to find something that could work, I was penalized for their limited supply. I was told I had to wait as another customer came in & that she would be back. I waited patiently, but even the other customer & her young daughter along with the interns (that’s what I assume they were) or young women who were being trained, looked back concerned, as her tone of voice changed with me all because I requested a refund on a faulty item. You can not force someone to keep a faulty item just because you have another item that is identical. If the initial item was faulty why would anyone trust the replacement. Heritage India has ZERO accountability & no empathy for people. She even said I could have made the mark myself but she exchanged anyway. Just sad to be passive aggressive with a paying customer. The wedding I’m attending is not until November (I brought the invitation) this is just a shame to feel this way. Ruchi also mentioned how we could look at the cameras to show I tried on pieces, but what is the point of mentioning a camera? I will never do business at Heritage India again because of this poor behavior...
Read moreI chose this store at random from a quick Google search and because of convenience of its location. At first, the woman at the store was very helpful and eager to show me her merchandise. I was able to quickly choose an outfit for my friends wedding coming up this September. The same woman showed me how to properly wear the garments. I bought the outfit. A little over 10 days later, I decided that maybe the outfit wasn’t fancy enough so I asked if I could come to the store and exchange. The woman was very adamant that I went past the 10 day exchange policy. I have my receipt, and the garments have not been taken out of the bag since I bought it. But she would not let me exchange. To me, this is just poor customer service. I chose to shop at her store when there was another Indian fashion store directly across the street. I bought over $300 worth of items, the least she could do is let me exchange for something that I would be happier with and look better at a wedding. Now, everyone who will ask me about my outfit and where I got my garments will know the harsh truth of this poor customer service. I wish I could give a better review, but the woman was not budging on the ridiculous exchange policy, now I am forced to buy something else from another shop and this store will not get any credit for my outfit, or I will just wear what I got and not be happy in it. What a shame and a missed business opportunity for this store.
Update after reply from store, I did call to ask if I can exchange and the woman said no, due to being past the 10 day exchange policy, so why would I come in? I asked many times over the phone why it wasn’t possible and woman said because that is their policy, and I can come and have a look but there is no guarantee they will allow me to exchange. Why would I make a trip there if the woman was 99.9% certain I wouldn’t be allowed to exchange? If I can get a guarantee that I can exchange for something of equal value,...
