I pass by this place often, driving from my home to Queens sometimes, but never had the opportunity to do so until today.
The 2 stars are for having a lot of options and varieties of indian condiments/ spices, but the customer service is horrendous. In my years shopping in South Asian markets, this was my first experience with a nasty cashier.
I went in to purchase my elderly father products using his EBT card and was not informed this was not a payment method at this location. Instead, I was told in a condescending tone, "you didn't ask me what we take here" as if I work in this store. Clearly, he saw my father's card and pretended not to know what the NYS EBT card was.
I proceeded to pull my wallet out to purchase the small items for my father and thought to myself, how can I possibly give my business to such a nasty person?
They kept their products, and I went to a wonderful South asian supermarket in Queens and got exactly what I needed.
Thank you for the terrible experience. It led me to a much better place.
PS: they don't sell large containers of halal chicken bullion if you need to know. Don't waste...
Read moreBILLING FRAUD SCAM - Already reported to police/311. Always look at your receipt for any random items added to your receipt. When you notice and ask them they'll immediately acknowledge and issue a cash refund. Extremely deceptive crooks right here in manhattan. Disappointed in an Indian grocery doing this. I'm going to have to double check every single receipt from a small business thanks to these cheats.
The first time it happened I assumed it was an honest mistake. Second time I made sure I checked in the store sure enough the same lady shamelessly scammed me and I showed what I had in my purchased bag to the amount on the receipt. She faked a mistake and issued a refund but no apologies. I come home and check there are already other reviews mentioning the similar scam six months ago. Please stay away.
To the cheat of a store owner : Since I live a couple of blocks away, I plan to catch you on camera the next time. That is if the cops haven't acted on the fraud complaint I have...
Read moreThis is a big grocery store with lots of variety for Indian groceries.
Pros: Clean, large selection
Cons: Very expensive, BUT, more importantly, a little dishonest in how they do business. I have been there a few times out of necessity (rather than make the trek to Queens) and each time, they have overcharged me. Once can be a mistake, but each time? See attached invoice...I caught one transaction and asked them to adjust the price to the tag shown on the grocery item and they did, but the other item slipped by at an extra 50c. The questions is not about the extra 50c or a dollar, but if they do that 100 times a day, that's an extra 100$ a day which makes them pocket an extra $3000 a month easy. No one likes to go into a store and be constantly checking each transaction for shady business, and be on guard each second. Clean up your act and be satisfied with doing fair business, then even if you are expensive, you'd get more...
