I cannot express how much I actually enjoy coming to Bifrost. Commander on Mondays and Thursday are the times I look forward throughout my week. Thank you Bifrost for being a safe space and fun space for us MTG players to come and play magic and connect with other players of all levels to enjoy and have fun, at least the ones who aren’t left salty but that’s not your fault. #Hatetheplayernottheshop

Friend and I came in to get into playing commander. The people working there helped take us through different options and explained the different decks, etc really helpful! Ended up buying decks and sleeves from a pretty extensive selection. Sat down and played for a while and the staff kept answering questions for us as we started to use the decks. Nice space, nice people working there!

I’ve been coming here since they opened. Convenient store to buy/play all kinds of trading card games (Magic, Pokémon, one of the few places for Lorcana etc.) They have tournaments and events almost every day of the week, also a bunch snacks and refreshments to keep the fun going. Comfortable atmosphere, sizable chairs and tables, one of my favorite places to play at.

I was super excited to check out this place and got sucked into a shelf of beautiful colored dice. While my boyfriend and I were trying to decide, we were accused of stealing.

My boyfriend had grabbed a tin of candy out of my purse, ate one and put it back in my bag. The tin is a bright lavender, completely different looking from any of their products. His review is somewhere in here as well.

I understand they might not have seen clearly so I immediately offered to show all of the contents of my bag to clear up any misunderstandings. Asking to take the items out of my bag was absolutely no issue at all since it’s completely understandable. It was the lack of apology after they realized we hadn’t stolen anything that bothered us. We left the store afterwards and read the other one star reviews for the store and realized maybe we had made a mistake in coming to the store. Again, the lack of apology was honestly the worst part of it all.

To the owner and workers, I hope if this were to ever happen again, you’d realize your mistake and apologize. I was also very personable and friendly towards the two guys behind the counter and they were not the friendliest of people which was fine. Being accused of stealing sucks but it’s the nature of business in Manhattan so I’m more than willing to be compliant. But at least apologize for making a mistake. I’m sure they have security cameras they checked afterwards just to be sure too despite me showing my entire bag at the counter. And please be a bit nicer to your customers too. We’re all just hobbyists reliving our childhood through our games. And I really hope you’re at least nicer to the kids that might be excited to come to the store.

Thanks for reading this far. I won’t be coming back to the store after this experience.

Edit: Dude. That’s a crazy lie and you know it. I’m not sure if one of the guys at the counter is the same owner replying but I wrote you an essay to tell the full story. I did not steal from your store. You looked in my bag after I took things out too. You can check your security footage. I also wouldn’t come back to write a review if I had stolen anything. Also I highly doubt that if you actually believed we stole anything that you’d even let us leave your store. I would have had no issue if you did escalate and brought in the police at that moment either because I didn’t steal anything. I just said it kinda sucked to experience that and would’ve appreciated an apology at the time. But your response is honestly kind of terrible as an owner. I sincerely hope you find peace in your life. No hate or anything but be a little...

In my opinion this business is awful and here are my reasons for saying this 1- you get taxed on everything even singles which have a set price in the system and claim this is what tcg app and website pricing is. Up charging. I also realize we live in nyc and most things have tax attached especially if your using a card but if I’m buying singles one there shouldn’t be any tax attached to that because then I’m overpaying for something that the market pre determines the price.

2- does not hold cards for regulars. Claims it's a liability even when you say take it out of my credit.

3-the space and location of the store is very nice.

4- not open to new ideas from the people that are spending there money there every week.

In the beginning I really wanted this place to succeed but now I could care less if it does or doesn't because the overall laziness and not really caring what people think that could help make there business better is a spit in the face. Also catering to your customer base is how your business can thrive.

READ THE ROOM!!!!!!! Quick update I have been banned from the store because they felt I was being disrespectful by calling them out on there bad business practices and preceded to called the cops because I wanted a explanation on my banning and instead of being able to...

I have updated my review after being a patron here for a year+.

I will start with the positive aspects. The store is very clean, has very nice tables and chairs, as well as ample space for TCGs.

My main gripe is the stores inability to put cards in their collection on hold for you. I have had hundreds of dollars of store credit that I was unable to use because I do not live on top of the store. I have called as soon as I seen a card I want posted and had it purchased in a 20 minute commute to the store. Other stores in the area have a system for this surely we have the technology.

On top of that none of the cards in the case are priced and so you have to ask for each individual cards price. This in itself is not a problem but the staff does seem to get annoyed when you ask and do not purchase anything. How will I know if I want to buy a card if I don't know the price beforehand?

Finally I think the store is not doing a good job of fostering a community. If I wanted to come watch a friend playing a game during a big event I am not playing in I have to PAY THEM for the privilege of standing in the store. This has turned me off from ever supporting this store.

There are dozens of card stores in NYC my suggestion would be to take your...
