What a lifesaver! My husband and I were invited to a wedding in Nepal and we needed to wear ethnic dress. The entire store came together to help us find the perfect outfit to wear for the reception. I am so thankful I found them because I would’ve gone in the total wrong direction. They were so kind, gave me lots of options within my price range, and offered so much knowledge just about the ceremony and day in general that I would never have been able to find online. This place is an absolute gem to anyone who needs wedding consultants for an Indian/Nepalese wedding. 10 out of 10 definitely suggest.

Ishwari and Javed did a great job in providing me with awesome groomsmen outfits for my wedding. They helped me pick, design, and obtain 12 outfits during the COVID19 pandemic. I thought Ishwari was very interested and motivated to do the job right and no detail was too small for her. She took great care to make sure the sizing was correct and that each outfit was made correctly. If you need an Indian outfit for any occasion, don't go to Jackson Heights or Edison, you'll find everything you need here - and with much better service.

In NYC for a few days and trying not to go to Jackson Heights in Queens to Little India decided to try Little India on Lexington Ave for clothes. Sadly all the stores that were there many years ago have closed and just a couple. This one was interesting with so many clothes and misc items stacked inside. Friendly owner and my wife bought some clothes. However beware there are 2 taxes even under $100, the NYC and another tax on top that made the purchase high. The next day visited Jackson Heights and paid the exact price.

One of the best shopping experiences I’ve ever had. I was going to attend a wedding in India and after some failed online shopping attempts and visits to a few shops in Queens, I was feeling overwhelmed. A few hours before my flight, my friend offered to accompany me to Vintage India, a shop I decided to go to based on its positive google reviews. From a small door amongst shelves of beautiful and carefully selected clothing, emerged Ish, the store owner/buyer (aka fairy godmother) and her wonderful colleague Nikhita, who devoted the next hour to helping me find not one, but four outfits for my first Indian wedding. Out from their resting places came gorgeous fabrics of fuschia, gold, and ruby red, with beautifully ornate patterns one could not help but delight in. While Ish hand picked my outfits and had me try them on, Nikhita tailored each to my size. Ish put my mind at ease and was mindful of my budget, making me forget my nerves and thoroughly enjoy the shopping experience. What I loved most was her honesty - she wasn’t trying to sell me outfits that didn’t work - she truly found the best pieces that worked for me specifically. My friend and I had a blast, chatting with Ish and Nikhita all the way through. Their love and knowledge of Indian culture shines through - they included helpful tips about the customs and expectations of the specific wedding I was attending. I was in an out in a matter of one hour, leaving me with additional time to rest before my flight. I attended the wedding in India with confidence and received many compliments on all of my outfits. Vintage India is a true New York gem....

Wow! I cannot say enough about Ishwari and Javed from Vintage India in NYC who helped me find last-minute outfits for both me and my son for a wedding in India. They treated me like a queen...let me try out many outfits, were priced sensitive, low-pressure, and the warmest and most caring people! Even though they had other customers coming and going during my 3 hour visit, they found a way to take care of all of us with complete care and professionalism. You could tell that all the customers loved them! Also, my son wasn't able to come with me and, as luck would have it, Javed was the same size as my son and he tried on many outfits for me to see and pick from. Who does that?! Then, a few outfits needed to be altered to fit me...Ishwari not only ran them to a seamstress a few blocks away, but convinced her to do the alterations the same day. Then the icing on the cake was when Ishwari told me to go back to my sister's apartment and she would BRING THE ITEMS TO ME after she got off work. Seriously...who does that?! Anyway, I had a blast. They not only picked out outfits for me to try on, but they had such great suggestions for accessories, and all the while answering my many questions about Indian weddings and culture. Javed even turned up the music and taught me how to dance at the wedding! I hope people know about their shop. They truly deserve lots and lots of customers! Thank you....

I am brand new to picking out Indian Wear, and needed several outfits for my sister’s engagement ceremony, Puja, and Diwali festival in Mumbai. Vintage India was my very first stop in NYC. Not sure how I got so lucky on the first try, but Ish (the owner) and her staff are the absolute best! They asked all the right questions, and helped me find the perfect outfit for each event. They will make you feel at home, give you individual attention, and make sure you look great! And they will recommend what looks best on YOU (not the item with the highest price tag).

My fiancé also needed a few outfits, and felt comfortable with every staff member. They are all kind and helpful! We were able to find 4 complete outfits (including accessories) in under 2 hours. And we love everything! We even went back to purchase an additional Lehenga, and it was so quick and easy! I’ve witnessed several men and women pick out event clothing and all seemed comfortable, relaxed, and happy with their purchases. Ish will also recommend a great, experienced tailor for any needed alterations.

Vintage India’s starting prices are the best in Manhattan, AND they offered us an even better deal because we purchased multiple outfits. This was so helpful and appreciated as we still have to purchase our plane tickets and hotel. Don’t waste your time anywhere else! Just go to Vintage India! You...
