My partner and I discovered Jo Malone while on our trip to New York. After buying Cypress & Grapevine we were really pulled back to the store to discover new scents. We decided to go to the store in the Hudson Yards and were blown away by the excellent service from everyone in the store but specifically from Damien, the assistant manager who gave us a full and welcoming experience. Damien let us try a million combinations of scents and threw in some recommendations while allowing us to fully appreciate the different offerings. We ended up leaving with Red Hibiscus (what we originally went in for) as well as a travel size Blackberry & Bay. We were invited to have the caps to our bottles engraved as a complimentary service and were given a few tester sizes to continue to mix and match scents, further elevating the Jo Malone experience. However, this time she was absent and another SA was there (A short middle-aged white woman with curly hair and glasses). Her mannerism and service left a lot to be desired and my sister decided she didn't want the fragrance, but quickly changed her mind. When she went back to buy her fragrance it was placed in a box with no bag. She said it would cost her extra per the biased salesperson. This left a bad taste in my mouth so I decided to leave a review. I was so disappointed in that experience and especially with this person behaving as it hurt her to provide us service. I would suggest that JM do better with cultural training and consider not charging extra for customers to have a shopping bag with their purchases. He gave us such amazing recommendations, information and scent profiles/notes on all the fragrances that we ended up buying much more than just a housewarming candle! He even offered to engrave the candle in store while we waited to give it an extra special personal touch! Emory is the type of company team member that makes it an absolute joy to actually go and shop inside of the store in lieu on online shopping.
