After reading a review response from the center that the atrium (open space) was indeed open (and reasoned that the person must have come during renovation), I attempted to visit the atrium and was not only denied access but was treated with condescending, sarcastic, and hostile behavior by three women at the desk who seemed to enjoy the sense of bullying.
When offering to share the review response stating that the atrium was opened, the main woman interrupted to claim that it doesnât matter what the center said, sheâs the one running the show today and that sheâs not going to âargue.â
When leaving, all three women said âhave a great dayâ waving their hands sarcastically, emphasizing the rhetoric behavior intended as hostility.
After this experience, I echo what a previous review has mentioned. They clearly only care about making money and have lost the sense of meaning in a meditation center. Ego is running this show, and I would not recommend anyone, including those paying for classes, to attend this center if youâre attempting growth in enlightenment.
In a city that needs an open space for clarity, spirituality, love, and belonging, this center is...
Read moreI have been a part of this meditation center for over 20 years, and the journey has been nothing short of transformative. Initially, my curiosity led me here, but it quickly became a pivotal part of my life as I discovered practical ways to foster deep, lasting happinessâsomething so many of us unknowingly crave amidst the pursuit of fleeting joys.
The center offers a wealth of resourcesâclasses, guided meditations, retreats, special events, chanted prayers, and more, all designed to enrich the spiritual path. For those eager to delve deeper, the study programs provide profound insights, supported by an expansive network of regional, national, and global centers.
Perhaps most unexpectedly, I found a community here. Itâs a vibrant gathering of individuals united by shared values of compassion and self-improvement. The dedication of countless volunteers ensures this sanctuary remains a beacon of peace in NYC.
I am immensely grateful for everything the center offers. It's a place I cannot imagine my life without, and I hope it continues to serve as a catalyst for peace for many...
Read moreI attended a two-night Catskills Weekend Getaway and had a largely peaceful, introspective experience. The building I stayed in is newly-constructed, and the room was tastefully furnished and spotless. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The vegetarian food provided was inventive and largely tasted great. If I have one complaint it's that the main temple wasn't open/available often for silent, individual meditation on our own time. After finding the temple was locked a couple times, I inquired and was told that the "public hours for the Temple are Friday-Monday from 1:30-4pm" and that it was otherwise open during classes/prayers only. I had anticipated having more access to the meditation area. The room was also a bit warm during the classes. That said, I did enjoy both classes; the teachers seemed genuine and I felt re-inspired to take up a more consistent meditation practice. Luckily we had great weather, so I was able to take advantage of lovely grounds and various walking trails. Overall I had a nice time, and I left with a sense of appreciation for the...
