Went here on a Saturday night around 6:30, seated relatively quickly but we also had a reservation in the morning of.
The space is pretty limited but it’s NYC so can’t really argue. The table is bar-styled with cement(?) wall separating the chefs and the customers.
The food didn’t take too long, but long enough to be a bit of a wait which was also fair since it was busy.
The food came, it looked really good and really good price for the portion. This fall inline with all the tiktok and Instagram reels that I’ve seen. That’s what drawn me into this place. The bowl was a little bit off putting since it was wood with questionable black spots, but I’m sure they clean it well.
The positive notes pretty much ends here because every bite of rice I ate, there are more hard bits and uneven sushi rice seasoning throughout the eating experience. The hard bits I’m sure is due to the undercooked rice. If they’ve left it for 5-10 more minutes, the rice would be fully cooked and the experience could be better. The uneven seasoning of the rice can be argued since unevenness is something that people can/might like.
I would rate this 2 star but for 20 dollars it’s worth it. However I definitely wouldn’t come back because how do you mess up rice in a place like this when RICE bowls are the point of the restaurant. If you look through the reviews, you’ll see there are other people talking more about the notes and experience that I talked about.
Being based in Boston , I thought I was in for a treat, but I can find several restaurants in Boston that can easily be one proper level higher. That being said, it’s 20 bucks for a bowl which is its only saving grace.
I wanted to like this place so much but it’s disappointing to say the least.
I encourage you to come here to have an opinion for yourself about this place because I’m just another fellow person...
Read moreI’m not sure how this place has a 4.6 rating but I was super disappointed. My friend and I were super excited about this place especially since all the TikTok videos and reviews looked really good. But I guess it was all fake advertisement. I only attached a picture my friend took because I was so disappointed that I didn’t even want to take pictures.
We both called two days to get a reservation (at different times during the day) and no one answered. So we decided that we’ll just order to go. We called in because we had questions regarding the menu: why would you offer three sizes for dining in but only one size for takeouts? And the fact that the medium size to dine in is $20 but take out is $23? It just doesn’t make sense to me since I ordered through the phone.
We were both excited for the uni especially since the employee that picked up the phone said it was shipped from Hokkaido. My uni was not fresh at all it was a melted pool of bad uni. The fish were all cut up wrong. It wasn’t the same size, how could you have one slice of fish being thick on one side and thin on the other???? The shrimp was not fresh at all, the fact that there’s black parts to it is beyond me. Also the wasabi is probably fake wasabi too since it doesn’t even have taste to it.
If this is what they’re going to serve us because we ordered take out then just don’t go to the restaurant at all. I think this place exists to deceive people and serves bad...
Read moreI visited this restaurant for lunch on a Saturday, and the wait time was less than 30 minutes. Before going to a Japanese place, I always do a lot of research to ensure I am getting authentic Japanese flavors, especially when it comes to raw fish and ramen. Initially, I wasn’t sure if this restaurant would meet those standards, but once I sat down and saw that the chef was Japanese, I felt confident that I was in for an authentic experience.
There is only one person handling both the serving and taking care of customers, so be prepared to wait with some patience. If you’re waiting outside, don’t worry — she is attentive and will come out to take your name when there is a waiting line. Despite being the only one managing the floor, she is impressively fast at attending to tables and making sure everyone has what they need. I never had an empty water cup during my meal!
As for the food, I don’t have enough words to praise their sushi donburi. It was affordable and tasted incredibly fresh. Overall, I loved my experience here. The food, service, and atmosphere all exceeded my expectations, and I left...
