MC Hair Salon & Spa — Local services in New York

Overall a bit of a disappointing experience. I went here twice for color and both times I just felt really awkward being there. Seemed like once you become a regular there they’re quite friendly but that wasnt my experience. Multiple times through both appointments they asked me to move seats again and again like I was in the way. I know seat hopping is typical when you’re waiting for your dye to set but this was excessive. And they didn’t point me to a new chair, just “can you move?” Very awkward. You tell me where to sit! I don’t know the drill here! They also couldn’t find any record of my first appointment to give me the name of the stylist who I specifically wanted to come back to see. I loved my color the first time but the second time around it turned out black instead of brown. Maybe my reference photo wasn’t great but I clarified multiple times that I wanted dark brown. They also forgot that I asked for a cut in addition to color, but they did make time for it. The cut turned out totally fine but when I asked for my hair to be thinned, my stylist used thinning scissors and then didn’t wash out or shake out the hair that was cut. So for the rest of the day I had pieces of cut hair falling out of my head. All over the place, in chunks… Never had that happen before and I get my hair thinned at every single hair cut. Also I asked for wet hair + product + air dry instead of blowdry and was handed bottles of product and told to do it myself. Again, I’ve just never had that experience and it made me feel very much like they were ready for me to get out of there.

Everyone else in the salon seemed to be having a great chatty time and they clearly have regulars that really love going there. Perhaps my experience was a fluke or maybe I wasn’t giving the right energy but either way I just left upset and disappointed and I’m really not loving my hair color. I’d say give them a chance, the prices are great and it’s nice to support locally owned. Also they did make my hair feel much stronger after some botched dye jobs elsewhere. Got balyage and a cut done by Raul at this salon and absolutely love the way it turned out. He did an amazing job making sure it turned out exactly how I wanted it and took the time to style it perfectly as well. The atmosphere of the salon itself is wonderful and everyone who works there is extremely friendly. Multiple people checked in on me to make sure I was enjoying myself and always had something to drink if I wanted. Overall a great experience, definitely...

Friendly staff but unfortunately they left my hair a mess they bleached my hair from a black tone to an blonde one when I specifically asked for light brown town and be very careful with the pricing we agreed on 160 but I ended up paying and Additional 100 bucks so in total I payed about 260 also the blow dryer as far as that go they didn’t do it that well just have causation I don’t think I’ll be going back there any time...
