Unprofessional, incompetent, and an absolute waste of time and money. I scheduled a short men’s perm and, less than a day before my appointment, was asked to come earlier than the agreed time. I accommodated—mistake number one. When I arrived, the stylist skipped the basic courtesy of washing my hair. Every other salon I’ve been to washes hair before cutting or perming for hygiene reasons and to ensure no products or oils interfere with the process. Not here. Instead, she immediately started cutting—even after I told her I was trying to grow my hair out and didn’t want it cut short. I was under the impression that the haircut was included with the perm because we never agreed upon additional services.

The perm process was even worse. She took over an hour just to put the rods in because she couldn’t figure out what she was doing. She repeatedly asked the owner for help, and eventually, the owner had to step in and take over. Her excuse? “I didn’t realize you don’t blow dry your hair.” What kind of stylist blames their inability to do their job on something so irrelevant? By the end of this ordeal, I had a lopsided perm that looked amateurish at best.

This place is genuinely out of this world. All of their stylists and assistants are incredibly sweet and kind, and it's one of the few places I can comfortably go to. I've always been a little on the nervous side when interacting people, but they are super patient and so nice that I can easily sit through the cut, talk, and just not be on edge. They can also schedule you in by text which always helps if you're like me and panic easily on call. As for the haircuts, I've been going for a few years now, as well as recommending friends and family, and I have never experienced, nor seen, a bad cut from them. I especially like Barry though as before him I had always believed my hair to just be a frizzy, unruly, mess. But after he gave me the cut I never knew I needed, I've discovered so much potential in my hair and have since then refused to have someone else cut it, even if it meant no haircut for years when I was away for travel. He helped me find the little waves and texture my hair has the potential to have and I just can't explain the shift it's had in the way I see myself.
