Disappointing Experience at This Location
I’ve been a loyal Muji customer for years, both online and in-store, and have always had consistently great experiences, ex. at the Midtown flagship and SoHo locations. Staff there are friendly, helpful, and professional. Unfortunately, my experience at the Muji Market at 75 9th Avenue was completely the opposite.
The staff at this location seem disengaged and uninterested in helping customers. On multiple visits, I’ve seen employees chatting among themselves and acting annoyed when interrupted, especially if you’re trying to pay, which apparently means they actually have to do their job! One time, I asked for a shopping bag and was told I never did, even though I clearly asked. Perhaps the cashier would’ve heard me if she wasn’t mid-conversation with her coworker.
On top of that, the staff here don’t seem properly trained. Several times they’ve had trouble entering Muji Miles into my account, and no one seems to know how to resolve it. It’s a sharp contrast from other Muji locations, where the customer service is attentive and efficient.
Muji should really take a closer look at the operations and staffing at this store. If employees don’t want to work or provide basic customer service, they shouldn’t be hired in the...
Read moreWhat a joke! Can this even be considered a real "market"?? Its a small fraction of a food section within a normal Muji that has a drink fridge and slightly more food products than usual. Other than that, there's nothing besides the unique cafe that constitutes the name Muji Market. Just call it Muji Cafe + food section or something but don't inflate it to be something its clearly not by labeling it a full fledged market, because some articles did do that. I was beyond underwhelmed to say the least. Sure, the coffee making robot is cool and worth watching for a few minutes, (insane he asks if you want to tip, its not a real person do not tip), but if you're not eating at the cafe, there's NOTHING here worth seeing. Btw, the cafe is extremely overpriced, as Curry, Gyu-don beef bowls, and other things are nearly $20. That's insane, plus the portion sizes for those are super small. This spot should be a hard pass for most locals and even tourists, save your money and hit up a better Japanese restaurant. If you look, there are...
Read moreDo not waste your time and money at this Muji counter restaurant. Tiny portions, high prices, long wait and poor quality food. To be fair, I did see the price before ordering, but was hoping for something at least palatable from the reputable and reliable Muji team.
The curry bowl was horrible at $8.50, tiny bowl with soggy overcooked rice, flavorless curry and only a tiny slice of beef that was mostly grizzle. The lukewarm dish was a major disappointment coming in from the cold and waiting 15 minutes for it to be served. There were 6 staff on site and only 3 customers. What took so long??? It certainly was not freshly cooked given the temperature. The miso soup cup was no better. Cold and only half filled for $5.75. Tiny egg sandwich - $7.50.
The robot latte maker drew a small crowd. What’s with the fascination? Many hotel coffee machines a tenth of its size can brew up a decent latte at the press of a button.
This place is a scam even if the staff is friendly.
The rest of this Muji store is, as...
