I will tell you EXACTLY what to expect. The entire experience last about 8 minutes. The whole experience takes place between a bunch of black curtains, they did not even have the budget to create or use actual rooms. You first walk into a room (black curtains) and a doll greets you and welcomes you to the show, then you walk into a hall to see a display of dolls like chukee & Annabelle set up in cheap plastic boxes. Then you will sit at a tea party and the actress will offer you a roach. Then you will have to crawl in a tunnel full of doll heads (very underwhelming) and then you enter another room where you are told to look at a screen to see which "doll you are" and then asked to leave and walk through a short hall of flashing lights and doll heads and an actress dressed in doll heads. It terms of fear factor I'd give this a 1, it would hardly scare a young child. In terms of set design I'd give it a 0 because there was no effort put into the rooms, again it was literally just black curtains with no props. In terms of the actors I'd give them a 3, they were carrying the entire experience as there was nothing else the haunted house had to offer, but again the acting wasn't scary and very underwhelming. It cost $40 for this haunted house. The experience is worth about $10-15, maybe even less, it seems like it would've been better as part of a fair or bigger exhibit and not a stand alone haunted house. If someone asked me if they should go, I'd say no,...
ย ย ย Read moreMy review is actually for โ The Horsemen: Terror Lies in Chaosโ in Sleepy Hollow. We attended this on Friday, October 13th. There is absolutely no place to leave a review for that specific house, and they have comments turned off on all social media posts, which makes me feel like I was scammed with the whole experience. My fiancรฉe and I love all kinds of haunted houses, from big productions like Halloween Horror Nights, to small local haunts. This was the worst haunted experience we have ever done. The concept seemed amazing, but was so poorly executed throughout the duration of the haunt. There was little to no story. Nothing made sense. We were expecting to see the four horsemen of the apocalypse and the headless horsemen, but instead got shown random symbols in tiny rooms and a mental hospital? Props were not good, we were taken into 5 random rooms and given little direction as to what was happening. There were no actual scares. It was advertised as an โimmersive experienceโ which is downright false. Iโd say it was closer to a sad attempt at a spooky escape room. Plus, it ended very abruptly. Everyone in our group was so confused and underwhelmed. Even the two women who were terrified to go in at first stepped out of the house saying โThatโs it?โ Worst part of it all was the fact that I paid $93 for two people to do this, not including the $10 parking fee. I feel so scammed out of my money, I would never do a haunted attraction from...
ย ย ย Read moreIโve been going to Nightmare haunted houses pretty much since its inception, save for a few years. They are always making it new and exciting, definitely changing it up every year.
This yearโs show, Dollhouse, I thought was really well done. With obvious budget constraints compared to previous years, what was spared in costume and set design was definitely made up for in acting and atmosphere. The actors did a wonderful job in creeping us all out.
I took my wife who hates jump-scare haunted houses, but she had a great time, as this was more of a walk-through theatrical experience. Donโt show up expecting to be popped out at or chased down a hallway filled with plastic cadavers, though there are a few genuinely creepy and startling moments.
The only reason I gave this yearโs show 4 stars was the duration. The website describes the experience as lasting around 40 minutes. We were out in less than 20. Again, I know this is due to budget restraints, so giving them the benefit of the doubt and hopefully theyโll be fully back up and running to a pre-Covid scale in a year or two!
Still gonna go back in a year to...
