I booked an appointment for a haircut and on the morning of the appointment I herniated a disc in my spine and could barely move, excruciating pain, had to later go to ER. I called the salon to ask to reschedule and they said I would still have to pay the FULL amount. It was only when I was in the chair, sobbing in pain, that they said I didn’t have to keep the appointment. I appreciate there are cancellation policies in place to ensure customers respect the time and business of the stylists, but there is a time and a place for basic human empathy and compassion. It was my first time at Noordwyck last week. I followed the amazing Acasia here from her previous salon. It is so cute and so welcoming! I looked for years to find a stylist who 'got' me and I will never let anyone but Acasia cut my hair (going on....seven years now!). Acasia is so good at the spectrum of hair cutting expertise: I can go in with a very specific request and she executes it perfectly (always suggesting modifications that may suit my hair/face shape better, if needed); I have also gone in with no idea what I want and she helps me figure out in real time; and, perhaps most importantly, she's helped gently steer me clear of some less-than-tenable hair solutions. First of all, this is one of the most nicely decorated salons I’ve ever been. It’s warm and welcoming instead of the commercial aesthetic in most places. It’s small and cozy and never overcrowded. They are ready for you on time (I simply hate places that overbook). The girls that wash your hair are amazing and always give you a nice scalp massage.
