NY Smile Destination — Local services in New York

I was a patient of this office for about three weeks- during This time frame I visited the office twice. During my initial visit I met with the very disheveled; Dr. Kerman who completed an initial exam without X-ray and proceeded to quote me $10,000. I found this absurd and questioned the reasoning behind this and reiterated to her that I have insurance which I verified before my appointment that her office fully accepts. Her response to me was “ oh you want to use insurance?”… what? I couldn’t believe that this lady had just asked me that. During the remainder of my visit with her she continued to tell me that my insurance would not cover this and that and was certain that I needed to pay cash or credit. I left the visit on the fence on whether to continue business with this office however I decided that I would meet with Dr. Heravi the following week, hopeful that he would be more reasonable.

A week later I had my appointment with Dr. Heravai and despite him being more reasonable than Dr. Kerman, he also said that I will have out of pocket expense however he would work first with the insurance. Sounds better right I thought, until a week later I called and asked him about a procedure that my insurance covers and he told me that since this procedure would be immediate there would be no time to get insurance approval and I would have to immediately pay $1200. I hung up the phone on him.

Dr. Heravi and Dr. Kerman are scammers and very greedy. It appears that they prey on those who don’t know any better, however I refuse to be their next victim. Another thing that left me unsettled is that they don’t have any reception or support staff so it’s just the two of them answering phones; scheduling appointments, taking X-rays, dealing with financial statements and filling paperwork. During one of my visits a patient was standing outside for ten minutes ringing the buzzer to enter and both Drs were away from the reception desk so I had to get up to let the patient inside.

Only giving one star because I am forced to do so to leave...

I was seen by both Dr. Kerman and Dr. Heravi at NY Smile Destination. Dr. Kerman provided me with a thorough Invisalign treatment plan, and her guidance left me feeling very confident and informed. I have gone to several dentists in NYC for consults, and Dr. Kerman took the time to explain to me details and answered all of my questions. Additionally, Dr. Heravi's seamless removal of my wisdom tooth was virtually painless, allowing me to go to dinner that very night! I was without any discomfort or swelling in the days following. The entire team's professionalism and warm demeanor, coupled with their well-equipped clinic, made for an outstanding experience. I highly recommend NY Smile...

My spouse and I have seen Dr. Kerman and Dr. Heravi routinely over the last year after not having access to dental care for some time. They are kind and understanding providers who not only explain what they are doing, but ensure to do that work with gentleness. My fears around dental work have greatly decreased by seeing these dentists. Even the shots I’ve gotten have been comfortable which says a lot for needles going into your mouth!
