Sedutto Sevafi's story is the archetypical American dream, a self made man, a legend and visionary who revolutionized the frozen yogurt game. As a child in Iran, he had huge hopes of starting his own business like his father, but as the ayatollah rose to power his dreams were seemingly dashed as his family fled to the United States. However, as they grabbed a foothold on the upper east side of Manhattan, his father working odd jobs to make ends meet, the spark of that dream ignited yet again. After College, graduating with his BS, Sedutto strove to change the frozen yogurt world forever. I'm still emotionally traumatized from finding short dark curly hair in the toppings of the peanut butter frozen yogurt I had ordered from them, I can't even walk past that place any more. When I called, absolutely horrified, the man who answered the phone said, "Okay". No offer to refund, no apology, nothing. He simply said, "Okay" like it was a complaint he heard all the time.

At Sedutto's last inspection conducted on 4/1/2014 by the New York Department of Health and Mental Hygeine, Sedutto received 9 violations. For the sake of comparison, 16 Handles at 1569 2nd Avenue (between 81st & 82nd) had 2 violations. Emack and Bolio's at 1564 1st Avenue (between 81st and 82nd) had 3 violations.

Simply amazing and generous servings at standard prices ($10 for 3 scoops). Top 5 ice cream shops for me out of 40, I have been to in New York. They use real fruit for their fruit flavors and the flavors show that they use the real high quality ingredients. They also allow sampling and have a large selection (50 flavors including a few vegan).

They also sell soft serve, shakes, frozen yogurt, spiked ice cream and shakes, pints and sundaes. I got the blueberry, sea salt caramel and Milkyway. All of them were amazing and flavors were spot on even for the Milkyway (candy bar). The blueberry was my favorite and had real blueberry pieces and seeds in it. Sea salt caramel was a close second.

It is a 100 year old gem of an ice cream shop that doesn't also force you to tip and supports baseball....
