If you're a fan of Chinese cuisine with a penchant for spice, you're in for a treat at Super Taste. Their famous authentic Chinese dishes have made their way to the Upper East, and I could not be more excited.
After making an excuse to leave work at 10:15 AM, I eagerly walked over to Super Taste. And let me tell you, the experience was worth it.
My order consisted of Burning Noodles with Beef, Burning Noodles with Pork, and Sichuan Style dumplings. Given that I arrived early, the first order took around 15 minutes to prepare.
I ordered my food to go, and walked home faster than I have ever before, SO ready to slurp up these noodles and dumplings.
The food: The noodles had an incredible texture that perfectly captured the essence of Szechuan cuisine's Ma (numbness) and La (spiciness) flavors. They were a delight to eat, coated generously in the sauce, chewy, springy, and slurpy. The pork and beef, already flavorful on their own, reached new heights when combined with the noodles. They brought a tender but satisfying chew to the dishes.
The dumplings were equally delightful. A classic Chinese Spicy Dumpling – the dish was flavored with a watery sauce/ broth, packed full of umami. The flavor profile was an excellent blend of acidity, spiciness, and a slight sweetness. The dumplings themselves were seasoned but not salty, so the sauce paired perfectly with them and the dish was really nicely balanced overall.
Every time I visited their downtown location, I would say to myself - if I lived any closer I would probably come here every day. Well, now that they have a location close to me, this may actually...
Read moreForgot to take mouth-watering pictures before we devoured all dumplings. We came in before 7pm where it was empty inside but the kitchen was bustling. As we waited and ate our food, lots of people came strolling in to pick up and dine-in. It’s a small place but with big flavor. While there is a variety of food, we craved dumplings and this place delivered. We tried the steam and fried pork and chive dumplings and soup dumplings. Fried dumplings made this way is exactly how we remember it in one of our favorite places in Houston. They also sell wholesale frozen dumplings ($15/50 pieces). Can’t wait to make them at home.
Johnson (hope I remembered your name correctly!) took our order and served us. It seems like he’s the boss/owner as he made sure all dishes were to perfection. If it wasn’t good, he didn’t serve it. He also recognizes the locals who come in often and acknowledges them by name. It’s nice to have that in the...
Read moreAmbiance (5/5): The small interior can seat 4 parties (1 table being larger to fit 8). I thought the inside was brightly lit and clean. No frills in décor. Service (N/A): I ordered at the kiosk by the front desk. The staff was friendly and no issues with the order. Food (5/5): I only ordered 1 dish which was the Burning Noodles. The bowl is a heavy portion of noodles and a pretty good amount of flavor-packed meat and sauces. I ended up eating it take-away about 45min later so it was my fault that the sauce had congealed. However, the taste profile was still spot-on! I plan to return to try their other dishes!
Returned again in a week. Got the Dan Dan and was also equally tasty. Authentic Chinese taste. Nice spice level and def coming...
