I have taken the Ferry weekly on different routes off and on for the past 5 years. Pros: Nice way to get around. Cons: Customer service is worst than Spirit Airlines. Boarding here is extremely inconsistent and unprofessional. Some Crew are clear and yell out a few details of their ferry departing. Others say absolutely nothing except death-stare at passengers disdainfully. Today on boarding the 10:59 am Wall Street to Astoria ferry we were treated to crew members standing in the ferry doorway gossiping and cursing, using the F word loudly (as in yelling) in front of kids and families trying to navigate around them. No customer service or just plain common decency in evidence. Crew seemed quite bothered by having to shift a couple of feet out of their way for embarking passengers. We used the facilities at Wall Street this morning. Their bathroom had not been cleaned in days, maybe weeks. How do you know? There were layers of dust on top of the urinals amongst other, worst things. It was also an obstacle course in avoiding whatever petri dish puddles remained on the floor full of X and stuck to the walls for who knows how long. If there is any supervision at NYC Ferry/Hornblower at all there is little evidence that even the very basics of customer service or courtesies are promoted with either rewards or consequences. That equals very bad management and hence this food chain of bad customer service will continue until people demand better and vote with...
Read moreIt was a pleasure and honor to be on the nyc ferry today.
I remember and admire their service on a date this week, fifteen years ago, when they came to the rescue of an aircraft piloted by âSullyâ to save the passengers of an airplane that had to land within the Hudson river. The response would have been a lot different if the young âcaptainsâ of these ships had not taken action to redirect and rescue all the passengers of the aircraft as it âfloatedâ in the river. To this day I stand in awe of the bravery and actions that these young captains redirecting their responsibilities to save lives of others. If not for the newly established NYC ferry service this day would have turned out much different. Thank you for the valiant memories of that day.
On another note, As I am riding the ferry today, I envisioned pictures/slides of that being shown on this anniversary of that day to honor the crews of NYC ferry and for the riding public to realize that they are on board with crew members who are part of a heroic...
Read moreOMGGG WHAT AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE. One of my coworkers told me about it and we HAD AN AMAZING TIME. So with the ferry you can hop to all 5 boroughs in NYC. You can catch the ferry at any direction and at whatever stop you desire. The cost is $2.75 per ride but if you transfer from one boat to the next within the allocated time its a free transfer. The workers were available to help and guide you to your destination. If you get on at Pier 11 pay attention because numerous boats leave at the same time. You donât want to get on a wrong boat. The boat move and the beautiful sunsets are amazing. Must do in NYC. The boats have outside upper and air conditioned lower seating. Very clean and snacks may be bought. pets are welcome for a $1.00 fee. Our pictures are from 6:45pm cruise to Astoria. Next week governors Island . Ill also leave a...
