Current tenant of two years whose lease is expiring in 6 weeks: While the concierge and superintendent are genuine and friendly, be warned that the building management/leasing office are a special breed of self-serving, and sometimes hostile, in a city known for cutthroat landlords-- the building manager, Safia, foremost among them.
Things you can look forward to if you rent at Parc East: assume at least several times a month you will have no access to hot water. Not infrequently, you might even be blessed with no water whatsoever. There's an asbestos issue in the building, which management seems to be trying to take care of, so you'll get lucky enough to enjoy the soothing background tune of a sawzall on metal bindings at random times throughout your workday. This is especially valuable if you're work from home during this quarantine, as I've heard first hand from my bosses how much the sound of World War III erupting on the floor above me brings joy to their souls. Half-the-time, management won't even alert tenants of the work being done until enough people complain about the Tuesday mid-day demo being done that they decide to send out a notification email. If you're the type of tenant to want near-zero accessibility to your leasing office, then Parc East is for you! If you'd like to speak with them, the blue moon must align with the approach of Halley's comet, and you still might miss them because they'll be "on lunch."
Oh, and pro-tip, be sure to quality check all emails and pieces of information they send you -- I was fined $80 because my first month's rent was a few hours late because the building manager sent me an email with the wrong info. You might get lucky, and even be accused of lying despite the hard proof in email.
If you're looking to self-immolate, Parc East is for you!

Read moreMy roommates and I lived here from 2017-2019. The service while we lived there was fine and the concierge staff was great, but there were multiple issues with an unresponsive leasing office. This all culminated when we started receiving calls from a debt collector a couple of weeks ago indicating that we had a $1,500+ balance due on our account and that they were going to report this balance to credit bureaus. There was ZERO attempt by management to reach out to us to resolve this issue - they sent the balance straight to collections. After analyzing our Security Deposit statement and referencing the closing statement that was sent when we moved, it was clear that there were multiple accounting entry errors that resulted in this balance being shown. When I called the office to question the balance, they told me that they are not allowed to comment and all communication must go through the debt collector. I clearly laid out all of the accounting errors and sent them to the collector and they quickly cancelled the claim. If Parc East took the time to reach out to us regarding this "balance", we could have gotten the issue squared away at the time. Again, they DID NOT REACH OUT TO US ONCE TO TRY TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. For a building owned by a publicly traded company, this is just flat out unacceptable. There are plenty of other buildings in the neighborhood where you will not...
Read moreI have lived in five buildings in NYC and this is by far the worst managed building of the bunch. The one positive I will say is the doormen are friendly and helpful. However, we had a number of issues with the leasing and billing office. I looked back through my email and we needed to email them on average 4 times for every one response. In addition to the general lack of responsiveness, they reported our payments as "delinquent" to creditors when we had paid on time and then worst of all after we moved out and received our security deposit back they reported us as owing them $1500. They sent both directly to the credit bureaus and the final $1500 to debt collectors two years after we had moved out. It was a clerical error on their side (because of course) and nobody responded to emails or calls about it per usual. They are literally so incompetent they can't properly enter payments. So, multiple clerical issues created a number of headaches and countless waisted hours.
The bottom line is save your credit score and some headaches. Live slightly further from Gem Saloon, but without dealing with...
