I've never left a review before in my life but I feel the need to say something about Q-Ten and the crass treatment I received.
I came to get a nail fixed that I broke after getting my nails done a few weeks prior. This was my second time coming to this establishment, they said it would cost $8 to fix it with tip and I simply asked how much the tip costs by itself to understand how much I was being charged (and to make sure I wasn't getting overcharged). I responded by letting them know the first time I was there I was only charged $3 per tip so I was confused why it was more the second time. I proceeded to ask them if they can pull up my receipt maybe I could understand the breakdown in costs by myself as English seemed to be an issue (or maybe they didn't want to service me?).
three different workers proceeded to yell at me simultaneously in both English and another language for about 5 minutes and saying I must talk to the manager while shoving her personal cellphone in my face....I told her if I could leave it on speaker as I was getting over a cold and I didn't want a strangers phone on my face for both her wellness and mine. and when they finally got in touch with the manager he said that I was given a discount the first time I came and explained the differing cost.
After hanging up the phone I went back to my chair and waited as multiple new customers came and were tended to while I was completely ignored. I asked a few people if someone would be fixing my nail and they all continued to ignore me and service new customers who walked-in. I've never been so completely disregarded and disrespected as a new customer who was trying to understand a breakdown in costs from their first service to the second...I asked for the third time and they said "hold on..." I asked a fourth time and I was finally able to get the my 1 fixed.
Point is...as a new customer you should never be rude and start yelling at them when they just want to make sure they aren't being cheated. And to be completely ignored and told "hold on" with hands shoved in my face was the most disrespectful behavior I've ever experienced....when minutes ago someone had removed all the SNS powder from my nail.
If you never have a question about the cost and services you'll be treated with respect I'd imagine? But I've never seen such rude behavior from people who should be providing a relaxing service. I've had my fair share of bad nail salons especially on the upper west side but this place truly comes in...
Read moreAn incredibly horrible and depressing experience. It was empty when I casually dropped in planning on a fill-in and pedi, but, they made me wait; the girl finally sat down in a bothered way and refused to speak. Besides "what do you want." I asked a few questions and she just said "yeah, yeah, ok." I asked pricing and not in English she asks and tells me some wild number. I asked well how much for something else and she made up another number --- I looked around and the one other customer looked stunned but kept quiet, as some women do. I said no, that's ridiculous and the girl said "these are our prices," which I could not find anywhere. I said please just file and fill. Speaking again, not in English, she began to remove my polish and begin. I focused on my phone, anything to combat her bad attitude. When I look up, she'd started cutting my nails instead of file. I abruptly stopped and spoke up about the treatment. I said what are you doing?!? She said she didn't understand file and not cut?!?! but, she speaks and understands perfect english. I got up to leave as this was an unwelcoming and uncomfortable and felt targeted.
They started that loud talking amongst each other, mind you, maybe two max others are there and some woman screamed "$20!!!" as I approached the door.
I said, "what?!? For sitting down?? She cut my nails and I said to file!" I was not bullied into paying their fake service. I walked out with mismatched-length nails so angry, disgusted and feeling abused. The treatment was abhorrent.
I watched them tell that lady (who watched on as they mistreated me) that 20% was her tip and they were taking it. She sheepishly agreed.
This place is horrible. Zero â stars if it were possible.
I am a New Yorker. I live in the neighborhood. I only stopped in Q Ten because I had extra time that day and thought I should finally try this shop I always walk by and put them in rotation. I will never return and have suggested to others who value respect and fairness not to support this shop. Too many other options in the area to deal with this blatant rudeness, price gauging and seemingly discriminatory practice.
Unsurprisingly, I learned they have a reputation that is unbecoming in certain situations.
Try somewhere else. Anywhere...
Read moreI had a pedicure about a week ago. I don't know the name of the operator. She did not understand much English, which is okay, but when I put my feet into the tub as she began the pedicure it just didn't feel clean. I couldn't communicate that clearly, thought I was being unfair, and continued. A bit later I started to feel itchy, and tried to tell her, but even with hand gestures she had no clue!! At that point, she was cutting my toenails with a straight edged clipper, but had no alternate tool. Most places use the pointy version, as it is stronger and more versatile. She then filed my nails down with the Revlon orangy file, and started filing down the sides of the nails, (why?) over and over. I tried to stop her. She put the polish on okay, but overall I was really unhappy. There was no supervision at all; no apparent manager. The next day, two of my toenails cracked- one on my big toe, and one small nail that cracked down the side. I felt burning under my nails for days - so I washed a few times with peroxide, and keep putting antibiotic cream under my toenails! DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!!!!!!! I will...
