Upper West Side Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery — Local services in New York

I rarely leave reviews but this time I really had to. If I could rate them 10 stars I would. Upper West Side Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery was a godsend in the middle of a very stressful situation. My husband was referred to an oral surgeon as he needed an urgent procedure done. After going through all the painful and exhausting calls with the insurance and the reviews of the surgeon we were initially referred to, we were just not comfortable as no one was giving us accurate information or they were simply not helpful. We came across Dr. Park and his practice by googling “best oral surgeons in Manhattan” and thank god they popped up! The offices are extremely nice and modern -everything you would hope for when going to a dentist/ oral surgeon- and the staff was incredibly nice and helpful from the first call. They were able to get him in a couple of days after and Dr. Park was incredibly knowledgeable but also very calm and put us at ease right away. They were able to give me an estimate that same day as my husband was getting the procedure done (almost unbelievable!). They took amazing care of him (and me!) Dr. Park has called my husband after the procedure just to check on him on a daily basis (even during the weekend!) and we just couldn’t ask for a better physician and practice. They are not there for the money, they are there for the care of the patient and that for me was a game changer. I honestly highly recommend them if you ever need oral surgery, don’t think...

The most caring, hands-on, avuncular doctor I've ever come across. Seriously. Dr Park is a throwback from a prior generation when doctors were driven by the desire to heal, rather than the desire to make a buck. Im floored.

Dr Park spoke to me on the phone (twice!) to explain the procedure I had questions about before I ever set foot in his office or paid him a dime. After the procedure, he called to check up on how I was healing. And to ensure all of my concerns would be quickly addressed, he gave me a number I could text him at (and at 6:30 in the morning, he responded with thoughtful guidance and help.)

In my 43 years I have never experienced service like this from a doctor. He is patient, knowledgeable,, empathetic, and a soothing patience in the operating room. (Kudos, too, to his assistant/technician, who let me squeeze her hand hard for support as I was undergoing the toughest part of the procedure!) Dr Park is one of a kind.

His office is also ultra-modern, and so clean you can eat off the floors. I wouldn't recommend it -- there is find dining nearby. But it is just that gleaming...a rarity for doctors' offices.

Oh, and his skill as a clinician! My procedure was done in minutes, I felt no pain during or after, and everything worked out great. Dr Park is also, as noted, a soothing and calming presence for a patient (me!) who would have otherwise found himself angst-ridden in the room.

This is the first Doctor I fully feel confident in giving 5 stars (I am very picky). I have been struggling to find a good oral surgeon in NYC (even in Long Island) who would give me the assurance I needed. Most seemed to see me as dollar signs. They were pushy with getting procedures done, making me extremely uncomfortable. But Dr. Park was different. He walked in with a huge smile and put me at ease immediately with his knowledge and words. I got two wisdom teeth extracted (1 impacted with swelling and a gaping hole), and he took them out so effortlessly. My first words after the surgery were "that's it?" I am writing this on day 2, and I took some ibuprofen, but not much pain. Just some soreness. No bruising or anything yet. Bleeding also surprisingly stopped in an hour or two. The staff is also extremely friendly and helpful-- facilitated a welcoming environment. Post extraction, after a few hours, Dr. Nam even called in to ask how I am feeling or if there is any pain, and to let him know anytime if there is any. I have 2 more to get extracted! I am going back to Dr. Nam for the remaining extractions. Strange to say, but I am looking forward to another surgery and get these...
