I dyed my hair with Rebecca, who is rather lovely, and was pleased with the outcome. That said, I had to insist that the first attempt at pigmentation was too strong (it was a colour I had expressly said I did not want), and the assurance that it would “fade off in a month” was not good enough. (Why would one style their hair for a look that will only mature in a month?) Thankfully she quickly moved to correct it and used a special substance to wash some of it off. Bushi, the owner, holds the fort down with his charm and honesty. He said he gave me a discount for being a student, which I appreciated.
The only not-so-great comment was that I was a bit put off by the energy Kyle, a fellow styler, was giving me. I hope I am misunderstanding but he seemed to be really condescending to anything I had to say or ask about the styling process of my hair. When I showed a picture of what I did not want to Rebecca, he turned around into a conversation he was not a part of to say “is there anything that you DO want?” If I were allow that, then I proceeded to share that the reference that I was looking at (for what I DID want) was not a semi-permanent dye, but toner mixed with bleach. Here he felt the need to say, once again in a conversation he was not a part of, “Don’t tell me what their hair stylers did, that’s up to us.” The tone and context was off; I clearly trusted Rebecca, else why would I come here after the consultation when I had other options available? Finally, when I asked Rebecca about when my hair would come down/be less stiff, of which I learned it would be different tomorrow, I could see Kyle roll his eyes. This was when I felt the need to say, “do I not have a right to be curious about the characteristics of and how to treat my hair?” I am sure he is a perfectly kind person from his interactions with his loyal customers, and I hope I am misunderstanding here, but I thought that energy was completely unnecessary for an afternoon I would otherwise spend time and hundreds of dollars to...
Read moreI had an absolutely wonderful transformative experience at Salon Musa with Jerry. I had the best haircut I’ve ever received with Jerry, he was incredibly meticulous, so kind and patient with me and my hair. He is full of positive bubbly energy and deeply caring. He checked with me every step of the way if the cut was what I wanted, and listened and executed with skill and talent. I was having a rough day but the haircut with Jerry made me feel so much better and happier. He is a joy to be around and I absolutely love how my hair looks! He gave me great framing layers and refreshed my hair with lovely curls. As I told him, I didn’t know my hair could look like that! The next day, my hair still looks amazing and I feel awesome! Thank you so much Jerry!!
