My daughter birthday was on May ,15,2024 I booked a hour long make up session for her ,originally at sky view mall. Sky view informed me of their MUA canceling last minute. Sephora called me on 05/14 ,a day before my daughter’s bday to cancel. I couldn’t believe what I were hearing , I’m like only one MUA for the location? So of course they said I could try forest hills. , forest hills Isn’t close like sky view mall is ,but since I had a ride ( thank goodness) I could do the forest hills location ,I booked for 2:00! 05/15 I get a call from Sephora , the MUA , she asks me can I come in early because “ she has a 3 o clock appointment.. I were confused ,I had a 2:00 appointment for one hour, she would be ready at 3 for her 3 o clock . I informed her this wasn’t the location I originally booked with , and probably couldn’t make it any earlier than the time I booked at 2:00. Despite the location change ,my ride ended up getting us to Sephora 8 mins before my appointment, I arrived about 1:52 pm to start my daughter’s makeup .. the MUA ask could we come in early only to start 3mins LATE at 2:03 pm ! I’m like whaaat? So come in early so you can start 3 mins late ? Ok . I pulled up an inspired looked for ms .Begam with google ,What I wanted wasn’t anything major , wouldn’t take one hour for the inspired look ,mostly glitter eyelids , not full on foundation glam look , my daughter was turning 16 and didn’t need anything to Cakey or extra or extreme. when I showed Taniya the inspo she immediately shot it down “I don’t have any glitter shadow“, Like huh. ? I live in Sephora , they definitely have glitter shadows ! I’ve never even heard of a make up store with No glitter platte, so I suggested “Stilla “ , good brand for a glitter look . she then magically found some glitter shadow, She then told me the look I wanted would be for a 90 min booking which is a another LIE , doesn’t take 90 mins to put glitter on lids , mascara and eyebrows , I get the impression she didn’t want to do it , she informed me it were her day off and she had to come in , she had a attitude clearly . I informed her this wasn’t the location I wanted or booked with, so it made the both of us ! Taniya finished my baby’s makeup and it were alright .., I had makeup done at bay terrace a few months back and I were overly satisfied , my daughter look nice in a rushed way she didn’t get the full make up artist experience, Her face were kinda flat not much detail put into the art , she actually finished the makeup at 2:51 which is funny because she said I needed 90 mins, but she didn’t even take the full one hour out of her session, so you stared at 2:03 ended at 2:51 yet , I need more time? whatever ! The MUA demeanor was off putting , cold and rushy, I was scared to ask her anything ,she didn’t inform my daughter on what products she were using , nothing ! just nasty work ! I ended up still tipping the MUA ,my sister asked me WHY did I tip her ? she picked up on Taniya attitude and said she felt uncomfortable with it . if Make up isn’t her passion she should stop doing it , I can also do makeup . I booked for my daughter to have the “ professional “ celebrity feel good experience,so I booked with Sephora . I could have went somewhere else or did it myself if their make up artist don’t like doing make up , I know MAC does make up and my sister suggested them for next year . I’ve had make up done and this by far was the worst experience from the beginning ,them canceling on me at flushing . Taniya and her nasty work of an attitude doing my baby sweet 16 make up ! Either way will NEVER book here if I ever decide to recommend Sephora again for anyone bday .. later on her eyelid glitter started peeling .. she didn’t tell me what setting spray she used , after a few hours makeup should still have been intact ., if she’d ask me what I Perferred instead of doing whatever she felt like I would have suggested urban decay .. their setting spray would...
Read moreOn Saturday, August 11th (which happens to be my birthday) I walked into Sephora Forest Hills location, for my appointment for a 6pm makeover. I got there early (about 5:30pm) so I waited to meet my makeup artist named Alondra who met with me on time for the appointment. After discussing what I wanted, she left me & went around the store to pick out the products that she was going to use on me & she took a little bit longer than I anticipated. She came back, prepped my face & began her work. At about 6:20pm she was only starting to work on my eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil, using the end of a spoolie brush to blend the product in, again taking a lot longer than expected to finish that one area. When I glanced in the mirror, I was horrified. My eyebrows were red from her blending so hard. I asked her to fill in my eyebrows more to make them look better. She said “don’t worry I’m going to go back & fix them”, but she never did. She BEGAN doing my eyeshadow (more or less) around 6:30. Normally, 30 mins into a makeover, a professional artist would have been done with my eyes. I started to panic bc I had to leave my house at 7:30 for an 8pm dinner reservation. I kept my cool & my confidence in her until I glanced at my phone & at this point I noticed that it was around 6:45 & she had just barely finished my eyeshadow. She even had to call over another store associate, Laurie, to help her use black eyeshadow in the corner of my eyes to create the smokey eye look that I wanted. 5 minutes later, I knew that she was not going to finish my makeup. She hadn’t even touched my face with concealer, or foundation & I was not going to sit there any longer. At exactly 6:56pm I left the store extremely upset. I rushed back to my house & took off everything that she had done. Needless to say, my birthday was completely ruined. I was late to my dinner reservation because the makeup artist I had didnt know how to use her time wisely. I missed my reservation and had to cancel it. This was the worst experience I have ever had at Sephora Forest Hills. I will never recommend anyone to this store & I will never make another appointment here due to the disappointment and embarrassment that I had to go through. THIS IS SO UNACCEPTABLE & UNPROFESSIONAL for Sephora. I don’t understand what the process is of how Sephora hires their makeup artists, but they need to hire people who have higher standards, or put them through a more effective...
Read moreI've come here on numerous occasions, and I always leave here feeling like I was invisible. I usually walk in and there is no one there to either greet me or ask me if I am looking for something in particular. (I didn't even know this was common practice until I took the online survey). Whenever I actually do need help, there is never anyone around to ask.
Yesterday was the last straw. A friend of mine and I walked in to this store and as usual, there was no one there to help us. We didn't think anything of it, because, what else is new with this place?! Anyway, I decided to try out the Anastasia (sp?) brow products they had but wanted a demonstration. A very pleasant (probably the most pleasant store associate I've ever met at this store! An aberration, obviously!) woman asked if I needed anything and I told her my concerns. She matched my eyebrows with the appropriate pencil color, sat me down at the Beauty Station and told me she would send someone over to help me. After waiting about five minutes, a young woman that had been standing around, about 3 feet from me, came over to help after the other woman walked back over and told her to. She did not say hello, did not introduce herself, only took the product from the counter and while I was facing the BACK OF THE STORE, (not the mirror) "demonstrated" how to apply the brow pencil. When she was done, she said "that's it". No explanation, no attempt to sell the product or anything else, nothing. I repeated to her what I was hoping for and she told me "you just apply it like a regular pencil". I was hoping for a more elaborate explanation, maybe something including what other products I could use with the pencil to make my eyebrows look thicker, but she was extremely unpleasant and not helpful. I just told her thanks so I could get away from her negative energy faster.
For the last time and final time ever, thanks for nothing Sephora Forest Hills! I am both sorry and frustrated I have wasted our time all these years. No worries though, you won't be seeing...
