Megumi ("Meg") is the BEST hairstylist I have ever met. If you're worried about finding a new stylist in the city and getting overwhelmed with the amount of choices, look no further and book with Meg.

For context, I moved to NYC a few years ago and was nervous to find a stylist here. I've only had one hair stylist most my life but realized it's unsustainable to travel out of the city every 3 months to go to my usual stylist. I started doing a ton of research to find the best hair stylist (and one that can also work with asian hair) in the city and decided upon Meg by looking at her work on Shair's Instagram page.

Meg gave me the best cut of my life. I have always had long hair but recently experienced significant damage and knew I needed to cut it short. It would have been a mess with any other stylist, but Meg really studies your head shape and face shape to determine how she will cut your hair. I swear she is able to read the yin/yang and balance out your hair's movement, texture, and weight to align to your energy. She was incredibly meticulous and talked through her styling decisions the whole time to make sure I was comfortable during such a transformative cut. Meg's haircut not only got rid of my damage but also enhanced my natural features and aligns with my style/energy better than any haircut I've ever had.

I went to this place for a simple bang cut yesterday. I showed them the picture I wanted (as seen in the first picture) and told the stylist(Kazunori) that my hair is curved, so he might need to straighten it before cutting. However, he said it was fine and cut my hair in just 5 minutes.

After he finished, I felt the shape looked a bit odd, but he assured me it was correct. Today, when I woke up, I noticed that no matter how I styled my hair, the middle part was longer than the left and right sides. I called the salon to ask if they could fix it for me, as the correction would take less than 5 minutes. However, they told me the stylist wasn’t working that day.

Since I really hated how my bangs looked, I asked if anyone else could fix them, given it was such a simple adjustment. They told me I’d have to wait. Frustrated, I ended up fixing my bangs myself.

I do not recommend this place to anyone if they can’t even get a simple bang cut right.

I tried to fix my bangs and booked another appointment at their Union Square location because I trusted a stylist I had worked with before. However, the manager at that location called me and canceled my appointment, claiming it was because I left a bad review for their Greenwich Village location. This is completely unprofessional and caused me even more inconvenience. Instead of addressing the issues that led to my review, they chose to punish me as a customer....

Unfortunately I won’t be coming back to this salon. I had pretty long hair, and for a change I wanted to cut it shoulder length and get some bangs. The hair stylist kept making comments about how frizzy my hair is and asked about 5 times if I use any products in my hair, instead of actually recommending me something from their product selection. After cutting my hair a little bit under my shoulders, they said they wouldn’t cut it any shorter cause my hair is so “puffy”. I took the recommendation. The really bad part came after when they started cutting my bangs. I showed them multiple pictures of that I was trying to achieve and told them it would be fine even with my god awful hair cause I had my cut bangs myself a few years back and it went just fine. They cut them super long (a length that wouldn’t even allow me to wear them properly)– after I asked them to go shorter they say they wouldn’t, again, implying they wouldn’t risk it cause my hair is so frizzy and awful. I ended up with something that you couldn’t really call bangs, but awkwardly cut chunks of hair behind my ear. I went home and cut the bangs myself (which as expected turned out fine).
