When I lived in the BEDFORD STUYVESANT BROOKLYN, Fresh out of Drug Rehab,I could've gone either way back to the streets or straighten up my life totally,THANKS TO ST.JOHNS BREAD & LIFE,I NEVER WENT BACK( ToThe Streets); Not only did they provide essentials meals everyday (except) wknds; They also helped me attain my NYC I.D, Gave me a place to learn how to use a Computer,How to fill out job applications, And when I got frustrated, not finding a job,They allowed me to Volunteer there gain the necessary experience I needed to get a job,Now 14 yrs later Im a Supervisor of the Food Services Dept at a really good HOSPITAL IN N.J.;If it wasn't for St.johns Bread & Life, Im sure I would've gone back to the streets,or God only knows what else,But Thank God THERE'S A GREAT PLACE LIKE ST.JOHNS BREAD & LIFE,WITH THERE HELP IM LIVING A HONEST,HAPPY, AND TRULY BLESSED LIFE..... I have visited this organization a few times I didn't go for a while but after so much time I am highly disappointed. We I went back they were nice to me only because they wanted me to fill out their survey and in compliance you get a $10 gift card. I did so. The next time I went I was given expired snacks for my children this is very disappointing. God made the Sun,Moon,Stars, The Rain fall, The Crops Grow All for free how could people say they are providing a free service and not take proper precautions of distribution. This might seem simple. But what if this was all that child or person would've had to eat then what. Please take much better care of the people you serve because you never know when it could be you๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ.

I don't have any complaints about the services that they provides, my only complaint is because I called several times, (more than 30) trying to get an answer for an issue that I have and no only does nobody respond, but neither was impossible leave a message because the voicemail is full... Why is the reason or purpose to leave the voicemail full? Maybe someone don't have the interest or concern to return messages when somebody request a back call? I don't want to think that but there must to be some answer for that... Three days passed and I went to the place and when FINALLY I could talk with someone I've been surprised because no only nobody answered my calls even though there were personnel on the premises, but also the first words to my self instead to be to ask about my need or concern, rather they were in a hurry because supposedly they were "very busy" Although I do not think they were so much because when I just entered the building, a person came out of nowhere, To get me out of the building without even having the decency to tell me why. I know they were not attending people, so one wonders, what they would be so busy (as not to answer the phone after more than 30 calls in three days to different extensions) Really? I had to wait 3 days to finally see somebody And the person wanted me to tell him about my needs in 60 seconds, which obviously I did not tell him about all of them cause it was evident that what he apparently wanted was perhaps to return to his comfort zone in which he was before I had arrived "as a nuisance", Because honestly, that's how I felt... To be clear I'm not talking about the services because I know the institution maybe it doesn't provide everything you need, and to be clear again, the person it wasn't disrespectful as well but the way I was interrupted by him when I was trying to explain all the calls and days I was trying to talk with someone, I did not find it very...

ATTN:;:: THE STAFF AT THE SOUP KITCHEN ACT AS IF YOU OWE THEM SOMETHING FOR EVEN COMING THERE!!! THEY BASICALLY THROW THE FOOD AT YOU, (WITH A LOOK ON THERE FACES, THAT SHOWS THEY DONT WANT TO BE THERE, OR WHY ARE YOU HERE) THEY WILL NOT HONOR YOUR FAMILY COMPOSITION, IF YOU HAVE KIDS, THEY HAVE TO NOT BE IN SCHOOL FOR YOU TO GET MEALS FOR THEM. THEY WILL ALSO SAY THEY ARE CLOSED BEFORE THE HOURS OF OPERATION LISTED. MOST PEOPLE REALLY NEED IT (MEALS) REGARDLESS TO HOW THEY ARE DRESSED. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS, ATTN:: THE SAD PART IS THAT THE BOSSES DEFINITELY KNOW THAT THIS IS ACCURING, BECAUSE IT NEVER CHANGES NO MATTER WHO IS AT THE WINDOW... THEY SHOULD TREAT PEOPLE THE WAY THEY WANT TO BE TREATED OR FIND A NEW JOB. THIS PLACE IS NOT FOR THE COMMUNITY, THEY ARE DEFINITELY THERE FOR THE...
