SUGARED + BRONZED (Boerum Hill) — Local services in New York

Edit: One star bc it’s it’s been two weeks since my first complaint, a week since this review and still no one has reached out to me.

Two stars because my waxer was very sweet, but the experience was beyond awful. I’m not sure why she was having so much trouble, but she could not get the hair off. She spent an entire HOUR tearing at the same exact sensitive spots over and over and over and over again until I eventually had to ask her to stop because it was so painful. She did not come close to getting all the hair I asked her to, including some areas that I think she just forgot about or didn’t see. The hair that I did want her to leave was crooked and uneven. I came home and had to shave, which was so disappointing after an hour of pain and almost $100 wasted. It was also extremely messy— I came home so sticky with sugar everywhere from my legs to my back. I followed all the proper prep, and the hair was more than long enough. I tried sugaring because I have sensitive skin, and it was a really horrible experience to be torn at for a full hour and still come home and have to shave bc only like 60% of the hair was removed. I tried contacting them privately through their post-service survey but no one has...

The membership is worth it—usually pretty good other than I’ve had some waxers leave hair behind before. This past time though the esthetician waxed off hair that I asked her a couple times not to. I even stopped in the middle of the appointment and asked if I could go wash off the wax once I noticed she was applying where I didn’t want it and she said did forget but she wasn’t taking off too much. She left the other side alone and it was literally like half and half hair and bald when I got home and I just had to take the rest off myself. Even my partner was really surprised by how it looked. It’s really personally important for me not to be bald down there and the experience left me really upset and messed with my confidence a ton. 2 stars because their customer service was great and I do think the membership is worth it but WATCH your esthetician while they’re working and you may have to speak up a couple times unlike me or you might end up hating the way you look for 6...

I recently decided to try sugaring for a Brazilian after seeing an ad for Sugared + Bronzed in Boerum Hill. When I couldn't book an appointment online, I went to the location, and the front desk receptionist was incredibly helpful in scheduling me right away. Even though I was running late, she kindly made time for my appointment despite being fully booked for the day. I waited less than five minutes before being called in.

Sharnell, was fantastic. She guided me through the whole process, explaining the prep steps and each stage of sugaring, including the benefits. She even coached me on breathing before each pull and gave gentle warnings for the more sensitive areas. The service was smooth, professional, and surprisingly comfortable. I've never had a hair removal experience with zero irritation, and I left with the smoothest skin I’ve ever had. I’ll definitely be back next month and am excited about the long-term benefits...
