Superior Elevation Record Store / SE DJ SCHOOL — Local services in New York

Sweet little spot that's hidden amongst a lot of similar-looking buildings in this area. Watch for the red letters that indicate the store and you will find it easily. Interior of the store is decorated wonderfully, calm and safe atmosphere as well as a lively look thanks to the white walls and small neon sign which adds a flashy touch. There is a wide variety of international, jazz, techno, and I also saw quite a lot of reggae. And another positive I always seek for in a record shop, a listening station with headphones. And more than one of them! They sit in opposite ends of the store so you can have your space to listen. I gravitated towards the rock section, which resides farther to the back right corner, some great finds. AC/DC, Beatles, Eagles, and even Ray Manzarek. Lots of Rolling Stones as well. I tried them out on the listening station and they all sounded incredible, keep in mind they were second-hand records however clean and in great quality. Did not come upon any major scratches, warps, or distortions. Bought a Sting double LP record for only $8, great deal. Owner was easy to work with and friendly when I was checking out, had music playing from one of the records in the shop. Loved it here, will be coming back to dig up...

If vinyl shops were royalty, this one would wear the crown and Caroline would be running the kingdom.

It was Caroline’s first day on the job, but you’d think she’d been running the place since vinyl was invented. Total legend. She knew her stuff, had great vibes, and helped us like she’d personally curated the shop herself. If this was day one, by week two she’ll probably be running the whole music industry.

The shop itself is a goldmine especially if you’re into jazz, soul, Latin, or Brazilian. We came in for “a quick look” and left with a stack of records and a soul full of groove.

Came across Superior Elevation DJ School flyers posted in Williamsburg and scanning that QR code is one of my favorite decisions I've ever made! Instructor JOHN SWAN IS A LEGEND! The class and practice spaces are top notch and I'd highly recommend taking the time to invest in yourself and your craft with this school. Well worth every penny to gain the firsthand knowledge and I had a real blast doing it every week! Long live SWAN and SE DJ School!...
