Nieves Latin Dance Studio — Local services in New York

I highly recommend Nieves Latin Dance Studio. Its an amazing place with a wonderful energy. I've taken group classes and private lessons twice weekly for a couple of years with Kathy a talented teacher and dancer. She is very adept at teaching someone like me that learns slowly but her encouragement and patience and skill at teaching makes going to Nieves the HAPPY hour of the week. All the teachers and the students they attract for some reason are very kind and sincere and Nieves creates a community. the studio has extremely reasonable prices compared to other places in the city. I think Will Nieves and Kathy have a great energy they know great music to dance to and how to create FUN , and build confidence in learning to dance....I am very grateful they have seeped into my spirit by knowing a place like...

They use to be good for kids. One of the recitals there was no audio which messed up the kids performance. The owner said if there’s time they will be able to perform it again. The show finished an hour ahead and they never let the kids do the dance over. I paid for several tickets for family and friends to see my kid perform for nothing. I had other parents come up to me furious as well. I decided to give them another chance but once management change. It went downhill. They focus more on the Bronx. Very obvious. They also have the better instructors/dances. Advise to management keep Bronx manager( lady) in Bronx and bring back old management. Three stars cause owner is nice...

I used to take dance classes (not partner dancing tho) and often times dance instructors would breeze through the footwork with little regard for beginners or those who struggled learning the steps (for example, me).

Wil at Nieves studio is NOT like that - he breaks everything down so so well. I've taken two beginner lessons so far and I've found his way of teaching is both easy to understand and at a good pace for a beginner.

I seriously can't recommend this studio enough, especially for beginners like me. The way the lessons are structured is deliberate and effective - it's very clear that they've been doing this...
