UPDATE: Dessy attempted to contest this review on WeddingWire. I have evidence to support all of my claims, so their dispute was unsuccessful. Brides, beware!
Wedding planning wasn’t easy, especially in a pandemic. Most of our vendors adjusted to the uncertain times, kept us in the loop with changes, and bent over backwards to make our day as perfect as possible in a pandemic. Not Dessy.
We ordered bridesmaids gowns in June 2021 for my wedding in October 2021. Orders were expected to ship mid-September. Come September, no updates from Dessy, so we reach out for tracking information.
Imagine our surprise when Cindy Dessy replies that their factory shut down, our gowns are not in production, and they will not arrive in time for the wedding. Let me clarify: Dessy did not attempt to contact us about this when the factory shut down, they waited until WE ASKED THEM, with only 5 weeks to go until the wedding.
Cindy Dessy gave me a call, and I expected to discuss a solution. Instead, Cindy listed out excuses, met my concerns with condescension and hostility, and showed no empathy or concern for my situation. It became my job to keep the call on-track and find a solution. Cindy only apologized once - at the very end of the call, as she hung up.
Dessy offered to replacements from their domestic stock - gowns in the same colors, but not the styles we had chosen. While not ideal, it was a solution, and Cindy assured me the gowns would arrive on time.
But the gowns that did arrive were defective or mishandled. One gown meant to ship to New York was instead shipped to New Jersey - to a town that doesn’t exist. Other gowns arrived with unraveling lace, torn skirts, and bleach stains. Some gowns could be salvaged, others couldn’t, and we had to turn to other retailers.
Dessy should learn from this, but I do not expect them to. Instead of learning from the pandemic, they made its uncertainty and chaos their...
Read moreEverything about this experience exceeded my expectations. I sent an email to request an appointment and received a prompt reply. They were able to accommodate me quickly as the instructions I received gave the wedding party just about three months to get all in order! In a series of panics from color, to style, to timing, the woman who got in touch with me - Melanie - assured me all would be okay. I gave her a sense of what styles I liked, my typical dress size, and she pre-pulled some preferences plus dresses she thought would work, too. I walked in with some fear on my face, as Melanie and Chelsea noticed ... We tried on a bunch of dresses, each one building better than the one before it. They definitely got to know me, my style, my comfort - it all seemed to relax and evolve until we found a dress I never would have considered otherwise. It looked great, it was a pleasant surprise! They let me try it on twice, change the straps around to see different looks, took pictures for me so I could keep a reference, they were incredibly sweet, fun, and patient. After a while it just felt like I was hanging out with two friends! They took my measurements, helped me find the right size, and made me feel confident in my choice. I walked in with a frown but walked out with a giant smile! I happily came home to an email from them with all the details I needed to place an order, which I just did, and now I'm actually excited - a far cry from how I felt prior to meeting these lovely women. Thank you! Now I just have to wait for the dress...
Read moreLet me start by saying this review is solely based on our stylist and not about the company. I don’t want to fault the company for their stylist who was clearly having a bad day… but that’s something they should follow up on.
I’m not sure what happened the day that we went, but it was the worst experience we could have had. I didn’t catch the stylists name that helped us, but our appointment was for 2:00pm on Saturday, October 11.
We were 5 minutes late to our appointment due to rain. The receptionist greeted us and had us go into the fitting room. The stylist came in with an immediate attitude, talking about how there’s a hard stop at 2:45 because the whole building closes at 3… which is fine. It’s our fault that we were late, we’ll make it work. That’s not a reflection on their part.
However, she was not listening to our needs and rushed us through the entire process. There were only 2 girls left in our party that needed dresses, and she had a clear attitude as if that was a problem. We ended up finishing our appointment 20 minutes early and left visibly upset.
There was no care, no patience, no empathy. Her tone was condescending and so rude. She clearly was having a bad day and took it out on us.
Mind you, our bride paid $150 for a shitty experience. Unfortunately, this is a poor reflection on the Dessy group and I cannot recommend...
