We originally attended to go the the other Irish pub on the same street but it was closed so we went here instead for an easy dinner and a taste of home. Though described as a pub, it is set up so much more as a bar/restaurant with prices reflective of the latter.
The house rosĆØ tasted incredibly cheap considering it was $16/small glass. Ordered the āsunday roastā and while I donāt expect much of a roast dinner from an American, I think itās taking liberties to describe this is a sunday roast at all. The meat was lovely and tender and the mash was nice but the gravy (which was poured all over everything) was so incredibly salty to the point of sickness and we were given massive bowls of carrots and broccoli which just seemed like the veg they were trying to get rid of at the end of the night. For $35 for a roast dinner; I expect a much better quality overall ensemble. It seemed crazy to go out for a cheap/easy meal and end up spending just short of $200.
Atmosphere was fine, if not a little dead, but the music was so loud it was difficult to talk over. It was good music (contemporary country, a LOT of Zach Bryan) but definitely an irritating volume level.
I didnāt catch her name but we were served by a blonde girl who was lovely and attentive and the building was physically nice but overall, this was dissatisfying and left a (salty) taste...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreestbury is amazing! Iām a recent transplant from Bunratty, and I can tell you with 100% certainty that The Guinness at the Westbury is top-notch! And the entire staff is fantastic at pulling a solid pint of Guinness.
Alana Is an absolute princess behind the bar⦠Sheās educated, intelligent, friendly, and super sociable! On top of all that that she can pull a fantastic pint of a Guinness. The manager Norman was also very helpful, and he suggested the slow cooked beef brisket French dip, and it was unbelievable. Itās rare when you can observe a staff follow, respect, and joke around with their leader all at the same time⦠but thatās Normanās wayā¦
The other Floor Manager is John, who at times sports a true blue Tom Sellick mustach, and other times, clean shaves everything to appear as a a college undergrad barback. But John leads from the front and hunks in whoever his team needs a hand. Finally, Sophie is a wonderful addition to the team, she may not know where Bunratty is, but sheās a sweet soul with a bubbling personality. Also knows how to pull a perfect Guinness. The short rib French dip is delicious! This place is a 10/10!
(I also can tell you that AJ and Malia are fantastic! But John made me replace that review. Iāll remove this part when his texts me...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was on a trip and came to this bar on 8/3. It was a little bit after midnight when I came in. The bar was full people. I found an empty bar stool and took a sit. A guy on my left side, and two girls talking to each other. I was looking around for a bartender. The guy put his hands on me and said āleave those girls alone and get out of here.ā (Note: I do not go for American women, they not my type.) He clearly was over intoxicated. To avoid confrontation. I looked for another place sit. I sat at the very end of bar. It took around ten minutes before a bartender would help me. After I finally got a beer. I watched a bartender and customer go behind the bar and do a shot together with the bartender.
There are many hotels on that block where this bar is located. It doesnāt matter if youāre a tourist or a local. This bar is full of red flags. And overly intoxicated customers who put hands on people. Bartenders taking shots. And not properly greeting guests. This bar is a beacon to avoid. I rushed to drink my one beer and get out of there. They need to be greatful for every customer they get.
Iām actually a very antisocial person. All I was trying to do. was grab a beer and celebrate my birthday in my home state. Iāve had better bar experiences. when I...
