DO NOT MOVE HERE!
We were sold on the location, the actual apartment units that look really nice, with modern finishes and white wood. We decided to the take apartment despite it not having the same amenities as its peer set (no gym, tiny rooftop that's always closed, no real lounge etc.). Also the doormen and super, Petrit were really nice and well-meaning (the one star belongs to them.)
However, living in this building was the WORST experience I've ever had in almost 8 years of living in the city. First, the building is old, so the HVAC units are loud, clunky and break often. Also the hallways need a paintjob, and the garbage chute is disgusting, way too small, and has no recycling. Also, every once in a while there would be dark brown water coming out of the taps and shower, which was really gross and unacceptable, and we never got a clear explanation of the reason, or confirmation that it was addressed.
But the deal-breaker for us was the rodent issue! Starting November we started seeing MICE in the apartment!! We lived on the 7th floor, had no pets, and were super clean so there was no reason for us to have mice, but there was a full on infestation. Worst part was management was not able to resolve the issue and after 5 weeks of almost daily exterminator visits, and other attempts to solve it, we were still seeing mice in the unit (they were coming through the wall and seemed like many other units were having this problem- I think it's a building wide issue and not related to any specific unit). So we finally pulled the plug and broke our lease and Greystar was super shady about it. They "allowed us" to break our lease due to the problem, but never gave our security deposit back, or reimburse us for any of our expenses (we could live in the unit because the problem was so bad).
Save your money and time, live elsewhere - there are tons of nice buildings in the same price point...
Read moreSave yourself the trouble and don't move here. This building has been under construction for the last 3-4 years with no end in site. Management and the brokers will tell you the work is almost done and give false promises that the work will be done soon, but it is never ending. You will be woken up in the morning by loud facade work and construction workers in the hall, who smoke cigarettes in the stairs and shutdown the elevators. They drag their dirty boots through the hallways which are rarely cleaned.
Speaking of the hallways, they haven't been painted in years and are scuffed up which is unacceptable for a luxury building.
Residents are constantly moving in and out as they are given incentives to move-in with false advertising of an amenitized building, so there are always movers shutting down elevators.
The roof was closed in the middle of the summer and has not been reopened, so the grills and great roof deck that is advertised aren't even usable.
There is also no waiting area in the lobby for guests, but that doesn't matter as the door people have no idea who lives in the building given the constant resident turnover and as a result won't stop any stranger from entering the building and roaming through the halls.
As a plus, Petrit (super) is great and responsive and should probably...
Read moreMy experience has been pretty consistent with the one/two star ratings below.
I moved into the Grove in June and was told renovations would be complete by July. I knew the date would slip, but the latest email to tenants says renovations will be complete in November I had an issue with paid rent not being captured in the new Greystar system. After being charged late fees, it took weeks for any kind of response. In fact, it was the broker, MNS, not Greystar, that resolved the issue My air conditioner was not functioning for over a month in the middle of the summer. I sent email after email to management with no reply. Finally the super helped remedy the issue (the super on-site is great) The renovations to the building were clearly superficial. The elevators are often broken, and the circuit in my apartment repeatedly blows when I try and use the air conditioning in my bedroom The microwave in my unit didn't work at move-in and pieces of my vanity were missing, so punch-listing after move-out is poor The updater service for new residents is great, and the concierge on-site and super are very nice and accommodating, so I will give the building two-stars instead of one, but Greystar management has been beyond...
