The Parish of Calvary St. George's — Local services in New York

I'd heard good things about this church from several friends over the years, but never got the chance to visit. One rainy February, a meeting I had downtown wrapped up early, so I stopped by the Ash Wednesday service. I went to services the next Sunday, and have continued attending whenever I've been able ever since.

The church has great music and preaching and is a wonderful, welcoming community. The welcome here doesn't come with an asterisk, either. Even if you can only attend the occasional weekly service (which was my situation when I started going), the clergy will still go out of their way to make you feel like this is your home. In addition to beautiful services and thought-provoking and Scripture-based sermons, the Parish offers a warm and safe community (a must in New York City!) to both members and first-time visitors and a variety of ways for everyone, regardless of age or interests, to become involved.
