The UPS Store — Local services in New York

One of the worst UPS stores in the country. Workers here are scammers and do not like their jobs.

I came into this store to make an emergency overnight shipment. The worker weighed my package and provided me with a quote for $350.00 plus $30.00 for them to pack it. I asked if I could buy a box and pack it on my own since my items were fragile. In a rude way, he said yah but you cannot pack your items in this store and need to go home and pack it and then bring it back. It was raining outside! I then said, nevermind, I’ll just pay you guys to pack it and he said ok. I sat down and got my items prepared for him to pack it. I waited back in line and gave him the exact same thing he weighed earlier. This time he gave me a quote for $490!!! He said the price is higher because it is now 30 minutes later.

I called UPS corporate HQ and they said prices should never change in the same day and it is likely this worker was making up his own prices. Luckily, I walked down to Fedex just down the street. The total cost to do overnight was $310.00 at FedEx even though the shipment was made later.

I’ve heard of NYC taxi scammers but now you gotta look out for UPS packing scams!

Living in New York for the past 4 years it’s tough to manage and organize my mail between moving apartments and being home to receive deliveries. That being said, the team at this location, specifically Cesar, Neil, Ryan, and Robert have all been MVPs in always taking care of my mail/packages, large or small, with my UPS mailbox. Shipping is a breeze and and since I’ve signed up at this location a year ago, have lost zero mail. The employees work different shifts but communicate as a team making coordination and tracking even easier. They’ll always go above and beyond and treat all customers with respect and patience as postal services can often feel like a trip to the DMV. Avoid! I walk in to get a box on Monday the 18th of August around 4:50pm and the UPS worker tells me it's 40 dollars. He then proceeds to strike a conversation with another UPS worker. After waiting for 5 minutes I askm if I can see the box. “I’ll get it when I want to.” Absolutely the laziest UPS worker I have ever encountered. Meanwhile the other shorter/smaller UPS worker (saying that just to set them apart) is waiting on customers. He served at least 5 customers while the larger, lazy as can be, UPS worker is chatting it up as if on break. This guy does not deserve a paycheck. I left in disbelief to Fed Ex around the corner.
