Tucked discreetly on 57th Street with no signage to mark its presence, Sushi YOLO feels like a true neighborhood secret—almost speakeasy in its exclusivity. With only 12 seats per 90-minute seating, the experience is intimate, focused, and built around connection between chef and guest.

The omakase, a generous 16-course progression, highlights the kind of quality and attention to detail you’d expect from far pricier Manhattan sushi counters. Each piece is served with thoughtful explanation and often a story from the owner-chefs, whose warmth and pride in their craft elevate the experience. The service, too, strikes the perfect balance of professional and personal—attentive without being intrusive.

Sake lovers will especially appreciate the excellent cold sake selection, curated to complement the progression of courses. The staff is happy to recommend pairings, making the journey through the menu feel both guided and exploratory.

Put this place on the map!!!! A tried a true, best of the best, MUST go to spot when visiting (or living in) NYC. No exaggeration, my boyfriend and I haven’t stopped talking about this place since we visited last year. We’ll finally be back in town next month and are beyond excited to be dining with them again. Did we book a trip just to eat here!? Maybe… probably… because seriously, this place is exceptional. The owner is the sweetest, most delightful human with an incredible story and the food/service is an unmatched experience. Plus, you simply can’t beat their affordable omakasi prices…but the bigger bonus??? BYOB. Bring your wine, bring your tequila, bring neither or bring both. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a party in the most intimate sense. I never write reviews, but Sushi YOLO is a 10/10, so please, do yourself a favor and go see them before they earn that...

This omakase spot does a well thought out 14 course that includes everything - from apps to nigiri to desserts at an affordable price. What I really enjoyed about Sushi Yolo compared to other omakase spots in this price range is how it’s nicely paced with your entire meal spanning 1.5 hours (other spots are usually churning out guests within 1 hour).

As I said before, all the dishes were so well thought out and the pieces that were presented were so beautiful. My absolute favorite was their steamed egg topped with ikura and uni - it was so warm, smooth, and custard-y with the ikura and uni providing the perfect umami balance.

As expected, service was amazing and Alex, the host, was so thoughtful to offer me tea throughout my meal as I was the only one in my party who was not partaking in sake.
