UPDATE: I have been going 4x a week for 3 weeks now, and only taking classes. Every class I have taken has been more than welcoming to me and helpful (Grant Webb, Megan Novak, and Adam Jankas, Aimee Lee Gottesman) I had never done Pilates or spin, and I never felt out of place or judged, including by my fellow tmpl members, all around very positive energy and I have personally felt like my overall mood has improved immensely, forever grateful.
Will come back and update this review after actually taking a class (lol), but I filled a form out to tour the gym (Sunday) and get a free pass I received only 1 (one!) call (Monday) that I didn't pick up because I was at work, and a prompt text to follow, which is great because it is easy for me to reply back.
I was invited to tour the gym day of, but scheduled something for the following day with Frankie.
When I arrived to view the gym I was met with smiling faces and sat down with Frankie. He was completely zero pressure about anything. He took me around. Answered all my questions. The gym is gorgeous btw.
Some context - I am an ex-Equinoxer, where I thought I'd be forever, but after moving to hells kitchen, and this gym being so close to me, it was time for me to move on. Way different vibe than Equinox. Felt much more inviting, their pool is much bigger than WV Equinox with a pool. Also their membership is very reasonably priced, and you can use it at any location in comparison to Equinox where you have to pay a large fee to use only one gym.
I felt 0 pressure and 0 salesy feeling, I never want to feel pressured into anything, even if I'm planning on signing up somewhere. I am looking forward to taking my first class tonight which Frankie signed me up for! If you're considering this gym I would definitely recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTMPL Hellās Kitchen is a wonderful gym to belong to. Beautifully designed, originally by David Barton who knows how to make gorgeous spaces. The music is eclectic and fun without a droning beat, at the right volume to enjoy in the background or tune out if youāre listening to your own tunes. The crowd is mellow, respectful, considerate and dedicated. And most importantly, the staff cares about your experience and takes pride in their work. Jack the GM is super approachable, with great substance and a twinkle in his eye ā so a happy guy runs the show here. And heās clearly invested in taking excellent care of the members. The front desk staff is friendly and attentive - always with a āhelloā and āgoodbyeā and well-staffed; they reach over and check you in without delay even if they are in the midst of discussions with other members. The womenās locker room is clean as a whistle, the maintenance staff there are pros, very friendly and helpful too. Iāve forgotten items in the (gorgeous & roomy) showers and theyāve returned them to me when I inquired. Once I left my cap and goggles poolside and the lifeguard recognized that it was mine and saved it for me for the next time I came to swim! Plenty of fluffy towels, high-quality great smelling shampoos, conditioners and body wash. Sauna, steam room, massage chair. There was a problem with the hot water - the gym is part of a residential building that was having difficulties with their system. The management worked hard with the building to resolve the issue. Assistant manager Rai took my concerns seriously and brought me straight to Jack. Ari at the front desk put me on an email list to keep me posted. The hot water is back and all is well at TMPL - a nice community to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf i could give a zero star i would. Worst experience ever. They just want your money. I went to this gym just to compare it to Equinox. And in about a week got from them 20 emails and lots of phone calls to get the membership. Got the membership over the phone cuz they couldnāt wait till Monday and pretty much asked me to sign up over the phone. My first question was if i could bring a guest, to which the answer was YES! I brought my friend cuz i wanted him to tell me if im doing the exercises correctly, if my posture is good, and while we worked out together he explained couple of my mistakes. The trainers manager CHRIS saw this and he said we cant workout together, we tried to explain him what was happening to which he said you cant workout together END OF CONVERSATION! After my workout i went to a membership adviser JANE and explained her the situation and told her that i get it you cant come with another trainer and train in the gym but my situation was different than that cuz i didnt bring a trainer i came with a friend, she called the other dude whose name i dont know. They blamed everything on me and threatened to cancel my membership. I told them to go ahead and cancel it. Cuz its stupid, i emailed to them and asked JANE couple of times to set up the training session for me, to which there were no answer for 2 weeks and now after i brought a friend that was a problem for them? Is that the customer service for the expensive gym? Thanks to those idiots i decided to get back to Equinox. At least in Equinox they have the best customer service and...
