I usually use the kiosks to ship all my parcels out for my business. Sometimes, if the Post Office is empty, I'll go to a window and have them scan them. I do all pre-paid, and once in a blue moon, the barcode scanner on my printer may have small imperfection which can cause an "invalid" message to pop up on the kiosk.
I had two of those minor issues in one week. One teller was like "yes, can I help you". I told her, this isn't scanning in the kiosk. Her reply "yeah, so what do you want me to do?" I had to explain that I needed this entered manually -- she did it, but she made it look like I disturbed her from a sleep. That's her job! If it wasn't pre-paid she'd be doing even more work at that moment.
The second time it happened, I had a different teller, this was one of the younger women there. She scans my parcels and when she gets to the one that was invalid, she hands it back to me, and says "Invalid". I said, I know, it didn't work in the kiosk. She says "well, I can't do anything, about that". I said, yes, you can key it in manually. She says "no, because when the postal driver gets it, he won't be able to scan it either". I told her, you're suppose to enter the tracking # in manually, as I already paid for this. She said, well, then go drop it in a bin, it will get there but there will be no way to tracking it while in transit.
There were a few nice women who worked there years ago, before kiosks, but now, we have to deal with the Witches...
Read moreThe post office itself can be a long wait at times even though they have self-serve kiosk. You have to swipe or pay for your item and then drop it in a bin that is right there out in the open so you can take your chances. But my main complaint is from the postal worker who delivers from here to my building. The guy had the nerve to drop off a box in my mailbox that had a slice down the side of it which the package was taken out and the wallet was taken from that hence the empty box placed back into the mailing box. This must have happened somewhere along the line in the postal service because it would not leave anywhere looking like that. I don't even know why they would deliver that it felt so light like nothing was in it because all that was there was an empty cardboard box in an outer box. I went to inquire at the post office and the lady told me that I'd have to have had it insured and have all the packaging to go along with it. I did not have ait insured silly me I guess. Other than that workers are okay there namely one named Alice she is fine and she's been there for many years. Everyone should take a learning stick off of her on how to be a...
Read moreMy partner and I recently made an appointment to get a new passport for our child at the 23rd Street post office branch. This can be tricky to organize since both parents need to be present during work hours. The post officer in charge of passports at 23rd street decided to call in sick on the one (beautiful weather) day we managed to coordinate to be there. We received no notice and showed up only to be disappointed. The response from the post officers there was a shoulder shrug. Very frustrating. There is little sense of hope in that particular office. We decided to walk a bit to the 18th street branch and try our luck not feeling very optimistic after our experience. At 18th street we met Veronica, thank god for Veronica! It was towards the end of the day by the time we got there but she didn’t flinch at helping us. I have very little doubt that if the situation were reversed there’s no way 23rd street would have stepped up and honored an appointment that another branch flaked on. Veronica could have easily shrugged us off but she didn’t. She was full of good vibes and turned our three frowns upside down. Thank you...
