The service started off good. The owner was friendly and the place was decorated nice. There was only one customer in the establishment when I arrived so I figured it would be a relaxing experience. I received the $55 jelly pedicure oh and let's not forget the $20 extra fee for gel polish! The technician did a great job removing the calus but the polish was too liquid and she said that she could fix it but didn't and I had polish left on my toes. So by then, more customers started coming in and she started to rush my services. After the pedicure, I got my nails done. My nails are real and the only thing I get is acrylic over them. I told her that I wanted to soak off the acrylic that I had in bc they where lifting! She didn't want to soak them off bc it would take longer to do the service! She said that it would cost more and I told her that money wasn't an issue for me and I wanted the acrylic soaked off bc when they lift it hurts! She kept trying to talk me into it so instead of arguing with her I just let her do what she wanted! I understood that I was a walk in so I just let it go! She asked me if I wanted my nails cut and I stated to her that I just wanted a trim and she did cut my nails the length that I wanted. After she trimmed my nails, she applied the acrylic, which was bulky! She over filed my nails and bc of that, they were no longer the length that I asked for! She didn't cure my nails long enough before she put the second coat on and she rushed me to give her my hand when I tried to dry them longer. When she was done rushing through my service I told her that my nails where ugly and I didn't like them. You would think she she would have gotten the shape correct bc of the way she was yanking on my hand to put it in the position that she wanted it in. I explained everything that was wrong with my nails and the owner comes over and tells me she could fix them. .. She started filing my nails down more and I stopped her and asked for a discount bc there was no way she was going to make me pay full price for this ugly set that her technician performed! I guess she was thought that I was trying to get free service or not pay for the service which wasn't the case! She gave me a whole $5 discount for this bs! 🙄The total that I paid was $120! I am very disappointed in the service that I received from V nails! But hey, you experience might be different than mine! But I TOTALLY wouldn't recommend going there if you are looking for...
Read moreI would love to give more stars as this used to be my favorite, always dependably great, nail salon when I lived in NYC. On a recent visit to the city, I wanted a set of apres gel extensions, was in the area and stopped in. The place is clean, service is great, color selection is huge. I was seated quickly and came in with just regular polish on natural short nails.
I wish I’d said something during the process, but have previously only applied gel extensions on myself with no damage to my nails, and assumed my nail tech knew what she was doing. First she filed my natural nails with an electric file, which was concerning on its own - but she also continually swapped the file with the tech next to her who was doing another client’s manicure. After the extensions were applied, there was glue all over my cuticles and under my nails, but she said no problem easy to remove. I didn’t realize until I removed the nails about a week later how far she had filed into my nail beds while cleaning up the glue and shaping the nail. I’m still in the process of growing out the ring of fire that’s carved into every single one of my nails, and while thankfully it’s not painful, I’ve never had so much damage done to my nail beds.
I wanted to share this in the hopes that the salon does better training or corrects this kind of application. Clients shouldn’t leave with irreversible damage and months of healing ahead of them, even if the manicure looks great...
Read more3/5, kinda hit or miss. very clean salon and some great manicures, you can really get nice service here but really depends on who you get, pure luck i guess. I tried to get the same manicurist but due to how busy they are it’s hard and i understand. But sometimes you’ll get Linda, who gave me the most fantastic french nails of my life with an amazing customer service, great time and experience, but sometimes you’ll take Wendy, who wasn’t very thrilled with my desire of keeping my natural nails and just do a fill in, she really wanted to add extensions as i repeatedly said no, french + fill in 122$, no problem: but i wasn’t happy with service and left a $10 tip, she then proceeded to show me that i had to tip her more, well we tip more when we like service more, felt like i was an annoyance to her. I go get manis and pedis to relax and feel beautiful, not to feel like I have to step on eggs with someone and really really have to refuse extensions i didn’t need. I know everybody needs money but relax. I am a good guest, always polite and i tip well as i live out of my tips myself, but today I didn’t want to tip more then $10 because I wasn’t happy, which i ended up tipping more for the pressure of a price in a calculator in front of me presented by the manicurist. Tips are an option, not an obligation. Tips are thanks for your service and not thank you for making me feel weird during this experience. Very...
