I made the mistake of selecting this company for my reception outfit.
In terms of the store, when I first called in, the attendant recorded my bust size improperly, which I contacted the manager for the same evening. Following that, after the piece was delivered, I called the store a couple of times after the dress was received during posted business hours and didn't receive a return call and ended up having to call the shop in subsequent days until someone was available to answer the phone. I was calling to confirm whether the bust cups were in the dark nude, as the lace for the piece was ordered in a dark nude. When someone finally answered the phone, they were unable to confirm whether the cups were also in the dark nude and I waited a period of days before I called in again to inquire about the bust alteration. One of the store attendants asked for my bra size (bust and band) and I provided that as 34DD and asked that she give me a call back with the quote for the alterations before proceeding. I did not hear back from the store. When I contacted the store again for a follow-up, someone answered the phone and let me know that the dress was already being altered and should be done and shipped in a couple of days and processed the second half of the payment. I was not charged for the replacement of the bust cups, but I also was not given the opportunity to authorize the alteration.
When I received the dress (which was after my initial appointment for alterations, which I had to reschedule), I noted that the bust cups appeared to be extraordinarily small for a 34DD, which was the bra size that I provided to the attendant. I called the store and someone else answered and I just asked for confirmation that the cups would accommodate a 34DD and she said that the cup size was just made based on the dress size which was contradictory to the conversation that I had with the previous attendant as there wouldn't have been a need for her to take my exact bra size in this scenario. The representative on the phone said to just wait until I put the dress on during the alterations appointment (which at that point had been moved a week or so out from the original date due to the delivery date for the piece). The alterations appointment took place about a week later.
I took the piece to a bridal atelier and was devastated with the results. The piece appears to be extraordinarily low quality and it doesn't fit properly, even though my measurements were professionally taken. Additionally, due to the way that the piece was constructed, according to the shop, there is no number of alterations that will be able to fix the multiple issues. Additionally, the shop expressed that the cups do not match the coloring of the dress at all and would consequently appear unfavorably in pictures and is visually unappealing in-person as well. The piece also does not look like the piece that was shown in the advertisement, which appeared to have shorts on the bottom.
I am absolutely unable to wear the piece for anything pertaining to my wedding day. The bridal atelier that I consulted for operations listed the structural issues, from the coloring, to the material, and the back of the piece is too low and too wide to provide any kind of bust support. They suggested that I contact the store as soon as possible for a resolution.
Given the circumstances and the assessment from the bridal store in-state, I contacted a manager requesting a full refund and outlining the quality issues and the experience. She apathetically e-mailed me back that the dresses are made to order and noted that I had no proof of my experience with the store and she sent me a copy of the contract that they mandate all customers sign before ordering a piece. They absolutely did not care at all about their level of customer service, my experience with the brand, or my wedding.
Approximately $3K down the drain and I still donât have a reception outfit for my wedding. Iâm sharing my experience to save any prospective brides the...
Read moreIâve thought long and hard about this review. My dress was a custom order with sleeves added, and when it arrived I had to pay an additional $2000 on a $4000 dress to fix.
When the dress arrived I flew from Chicago to NY to try on the dress for the first time. I went to step into the dress and knew immediately something was up. It wouldnât zip, the cups looked like they werenât even close to what I ordered, the sleeves wouldnât even pull all the way up to my shoulders and I started to panic. At the time the curtain was closed, my mother and best friend on the other side, while I was whispered to by a seamstress and was asked if I was pregnant then asked if I had gained weight multiple times. To be asked by an outside seamstress was one thing, to then be asked by a member of staff was another. I was humiliated, demoralized and absolutely heart broken. The only discount I received was on the fabric I had to buy to fix the dress. Which at that point, wasnât enough to fix the emotional damage I felt when I put that dress on. I didnât understand how this became about weight when I couldnât physically pull the sleeves up my arms because they werenât long enough, I canât get taller! It physically did not make sense how the measurements were SO OFF. No bride should feel this way, and honestly reading all of these reviews where one day they are taking your measurements, and the next your being asked if you gained weight because the dress miraculously âdoesnât fit anymore,â and have to pay to fix the dress because it doesnât fit when itâs SO CLOSE to your wedding date is unacceptable. Not to mention on my actual wedding day, the sleeves kept falling down. To which I had to be hoisted into the dress in between photos, which left welts and rashes on my shoulders.
And to be clear, I was so freaked out I went to the doctor who confirmed for me I had weighed the exact same thing when tried that dress on the day I bought it. So the âyou gained weightâ was inaccurate, the measurements were clearly wrong.
If I could go back and do it all again, I wouldâve asked for my money back. The pain I feel from those days will stay with me forever. Standing on a pedestal, holding a dress that doesnât fit me to my chest while being measured over and over again and comparing it to the original measurements that were taken and then being told it was MY FAULT and I gained weight?? How is that a women supporting women? Or even treating someone with decency? Thereâs better ways to go about that.
So in closing Iâd say donât go here. Itâs not worth it. And to Wona, I get it you apologized to me, but the best you could do was give me a discount on fabric? This experience sucked, and I really hoped for better from you, your staff and the people you...
Read moreLadies, I apologize. This is going to be on the longer side for a review. Approximately one month prior I tried on wedding dresses, for the first time, at Kleinfeld. From the moment I walked in I felt that I was being treated like a number and I experienced the women as the desk were curt and snobbish. I stood a few feet in front of a dress and they asked me to take a seat in their waiting room. I was not reaching for it. I just commented on how beautiful it was to my friend. The consultant I had was lovely and knowledgable, but again, I felt like a number. I was in fitting room #15 and it was obvious we were on the clock. I ended up leaving and felt unsure of what to do next.
I searched for other wedding dress stores in NYC and Wona Bridal appeared and really caught my eye. I made an appointment, had to reschedule, and they had to reschedule that appointment due to a snow storm. We rescheduled and they said they would honor the 14% promotion they had for Valentine's Day, when I had the appointment scheduled.
I went in today, with my friend, and we were blown away. Our consultant welcomed us warmly into the store and it was obvious she was extremely knowledgable. She was great with bringing out every single dress I wanted to try on and did not make me feel bad, or rush, when I tried the same two dresses on MANY times for my mom on FaceTime. She did such a lovely job at helping me feel important and like the only bride she was focused on at that time.
The cherry on top of all this are the prices, ladies. I was use to the prices at Kleinfeld and I must say, I have no idea why people keep shopping there, at Kleinfeld. The lux gowns are so reasonably priced (mine was $2100 with tax and the 14% Valentine's Day discount), the craftsmanship is incredible, and the tailoring is $800 versus the $895 at Kleinfeld. Also, Wona's policy is a 50% deposit versus 65% at Kleinfeld.
I'll write an updated review once my gown arrives and we do the final fitting.
I cannot recommend this bridal store highly enough. If you are wedding dress shopping in NYC, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to Wona's Bridal. It's very close to Kleinfeld's if you...
