Yee's Hung Ga Kung Fu academy offers authentic Southern Shaolin Kung Fu. Classes differ showing techniques and using them in "what-if" situations mix with warm-ups and calisthenics. Students are also taught forms, and later on weapon forms, that include a set of diverse techniques which help develop flexibility, strength, and conditioning on a their body.
I've been training at Yee's Hung Ga for more than a decade and I am still training to this day. Couple things which I haven't notice in the beginning, while training is that it helped me with my health and condition. Being asthmatic and having low cardio, the techniques in the Kung Fu forms and Chi-Gung training helped with my body to handle my condition.
The academy building is very "old school", it carries that ethereal feeling like you're in the traditional Kung Fu school. The #1 reason I am still practicing at this martial art academy is because of the instructor or Sifu, is very nice, humble and informative. Compare to other big martial art academies, a student might rarely have lessons with the head instructor. But in Yee's Hung Ga Kung Fu academy in Chinatown, Sifu teaches most of the classes.

Read moreI've been training under the tutelage of Sifu Joseph Demundo for approximately three years. He is a dedicated instructor who is patient, detailed and honest about his teaching. A great thing about this school is that you can develop the skills at your own pace. You will notice the progress so long as your willing to do the work wholeheartedly.
The school offers distinct classes, which is particularly of value for anyone with a busy schedule (such as myself), Ex.strictly kicking, body conditioning, hand techniques, self-defense and so forth. Other aspects of the training I particularly like to hone in on are Chi development, hard and soft power, which Sifu incorperates into the techniques.
I can sincerely say ever since I started training here, I notice the strengthen in my legs from all the stance work, my forearms and grip are conditioned beyond what weights would ever allow me to achieve. I feel mentally and physically much more discipline and confident to handle any difficult situation that is presented to me, this is stuff that stays with you for the rest of your life. I highly recommend trying a class out and making that investment...
Read moreI was looking all over Chinatown and LES for a Martial Arts class for my daughter (10 yrs old) and finally found one that we both loved.
The priority in this school is to teach, not entertain. It’s a school, not an aerobics Kung Fu class for kids in which they “feel worked” but didn’t really learn anything.
Leave the ego at the door and learn in an environment of respect and high level of expert.
As a parent what I look at the most are the values a school embraces. I want to know what are the overriding influences besides the technique they teach....
