Yomie’s Rice and Yogurt is a popular Australian drink shop chain that specializes in rice yogurt drinks. They have locations in the US, but I think this might the first one in New York. They just opened two days ago, and I was very curious to try them out.
First thing I noticed after looking at their menu is that their drinks only come in one size and it’s a little bit pricier than an average boba drink. Also, the menu lists the names of the drinks but has no descriptions. If you are unsure about the drink, you would have to ask the staff about it. I ended up ordering the Purple Rice Yogurt Drink, one of their signature drinks.
I’ve never had a rice yogurt drink so this was completely new to me, and I found that it tastes very different from boba tea drinks. The Purple Rice Yogurt Drink had purple rice bits which were sweet and chewy. The yogurt was creamy and tangy with a milkshake-like texture. It’s very filling and feels more like a dessert than a drink. I was advised by the staff to drink the yogurt drink within the hour for optimal taste.
And because it’s a yogurt drink, it’s probably much healthier than the average boba drink. It’s probably not everyone’s cup of tea but I was glad I...
Read moreI went to Yomie’s expecting to be blown away. It has a great looking store front, and it looked nice and clean. I ordered the Yomie’s Purple Rice Yogurt and went to swipe my card. However I was told that i had to order at least two drinks to use my card. So I also added the Genki Lemon Forest Green Tea onto my order.
The wait was not long at all, and my order came within a couple minutes. I had never tried something like this before and I expected a lot, but overall after I tried it it was average. The yogurt was creamy and tart and the rice added some nice texture. However I felt that I could have just bought some yogurt and added my own rice to it and spent less money for what they give.
I felt that the tea I ordered was more worth it than getting the yogurt. It had a nice green tea flavor with a nice sweetness and citrus tone. However after around 30 minutes it got a little bitter, so I would suggest to drink in within that time.
Overall, the service and the people there were very nice, the yogurt is exactly just rice inside yogurt. I think once in a while I’ll come back...
Read moreDISGUSTING!!! All of the times in which I wasted money to order from this place through UberEats, it has been extreme disappointments. Each time, I try different items from the menu, hoping it'd be better but it did not improve. First, the quality is unacceptable, always gave me a stomach ache afterwards. The yogurt always taste spoiled or expired. Please learn from Duomi Yogurt place in Flushing. Their yogurt is always fresh and tasty (no matter what flavor). I was excited to see one of these yogurt places near me without having to travel to Flushing but this is just...
