I love walking into the Newport Bay Candle Company. Most of the candles are heavily fragranced and lingers outside of the store. This is something to remember if you are highly sensitive to fragrances. They offer candles in several different styles, fragrances, and sizes. They also offer wax melts and various other gifts as well.

In full disclosure, I've had both positive and negative experiences with their gel candles and wax melts. Some of the candles performed poorly while others worked quite well. The wax melts were also a hit or miss as some provided a nice fragrance while others didn't last long enough. For this reason, I struggled with the rating. However, the employees are always friendly, and the selection of products available are plentiful. I gave the 4 star rating as I've had more positive experiences than not.

Hand made candles! I could of spent way more $$$ at the big box store...Newport Candle Co had all my favorite scents and even a few current scents that suprised me and knocked my socks off. The sign in the window says, "generously scented candles," and IT IS TRUE!!! I even left with a little handbag from there too. And, to top it all off we weren't being followed by employees, we werent treated like theives...that was refreshingly different from the other local shops in Newport! I had 3 kids with me and believe me they were picking up all the glass candles, openning them, and smelling them and the owner was just so sweet and would give us info on the candles. I really loves this...

Why does a candle shop in a tourist town need or want to make controversial statements about human rights and politics? Hard pass on this place, especially if you are vacationing with family that has different perspectives, the unnecessary merchandise is certain to increase tensions. Don't even walk in the door if you are enjoying a rare moment of peace from the current political climate, this shop will instantly suck the joy from your day. I went quickly from having a great day to wondering why hate has to be on display in a freaking candle shop. BTW, I'm a candle addict and was prepared to spend a lot of money here. Instead, I left with nothing other...
