This is a MUST SEE attraction in Newport Oregon! Port dock 1 is where you go to see the Sea Lions up close. Located in downtown Newport you find some street parking or park at the paid lot across the street. You will hear them at this point. Walk to the dock located right next to the Clearwater Restaurant (highly recommend on another review ;) There are places to take photos and then you will see the Sea Lions on a floating dock below. They are sunning and vying for a spot on the dock and barking at each other. As you walk further out on the dock, you can also see them across the water on the breaker rocks. There are some information boards down there as well. Please take care with small children as there is no rail at the end of the dock. The best part is that is is FREE! Please note: in June they leave for a month for mating season.

A must even for a few minutes - it's a fun/funny experience watching & listening to the sea lions. It's a really small dock with beautiful views of the bay too. Even can see more sea lions on the rocks. Expect them to be really loud

So fun to watch the sea lions and it is in a great location with lots of local shops. I skipped the sea lion cave to come here for free and it was so worth it!
