This was my first time being in Newport and getting to experience each of the little shops. My friend and I were drawn to this shop solely based off of the goblin/gothic core section they had towards the front of the store. They also had a D&D dice, a mushroom section, handmade jewelry, pottery, and the classic Newport merch. From what we gathered it was a fair amount of semi-to-expensive items, one of them being a lavender sweater of a possum I was really interested in. But what caught my eye over by some of their jewelry were these mystery surprise gifts that ranged between $16-$29 supposedly with 12 âgiftsâ inside. They were a buy one get one free and I thought itâd be a great gift my friend and I to experience together. Donât get me wrong, I wasnât expecting the finest items you could get in the entire store but the items that I did received were so insulting it almost brought me to tears because I felt I had been basically scammed. The picture is the collective of what she and I found in our little mystery guys. Mind you, mine was a rolled up tissue paper ball that was ever so more disappointing with each turn of it. Not only was there not 12 items within each of these mystery surprises, but to pay 24.99 for this?! I wanted to go back and ask for a refund but when looking up their return policy unless I never opened these I was never going to get my money back and even if they could I would receive a âstore creditâ I donât live in the area so a store credit would be just as useless as not getting the refund. Iâm posting this because I really hoping that the next person who experiences this place and happens to see these, reads this post and stays far away from them! Next time, get the possum sweater and save yourself from the day shattering...
Read moreI used to really like this shop, and several years ago I bought a coffee cup from them. It was one of my very favorite cups, so when I had the opportunity to go there again, and get another one, I did. I had only had it for a few months, when it got a crack out of the blue and started leaking. I retired it,and put rubber bands in it, and once again got another one. This time I only had it a short time when I poured my steaming hot water over a tea bag and the cup shattered, boiling water flying everywhere. Having two newer cups fail without me doing anything but use them in my daily routine, tells me they were defective. I have had dollar store mugs last longer.
I tried to return the broken mugs, thinking that they might appreciate knowing that one of the products they sell was defective. I would have been happy to get credit for even one of the mugs, but she only offered me 20% off of something. She was not even close to thinking that the product was defective, but said that there is "no way of knowing" how they got broken. In my opinion, if a store has quality products, they will honor it by having a good return policy that doesn't blame the customer.
I will not be returning to Wind...
Read moreReally neat shop along the coast! Lots of cool trinkets...but the staff was rather unfriendly. I understand and completely respect the covid guidelines especially as a tourist on vacation. My Fiance and I were Sniffing their special bar soap selection and the staff asked us keep our masks completely on, mind you we were only pulling them down enough to smell the soap. Very rude customer service. How am I supposed to shop without knowing if ill like what I buy? And it was certainly disrespectful to be told that all the way across the store rather then be...
