I have lived in proximity for several decades and never visited until recently, but always wondered what they were like. My wife came upon a deal for a pass to all three, so we decided to check them out. We were both quite disappointed. Undersea Garden was okay. There wasn't much to it except for the gift shop. But the diver getting in the water with the sea life and interacting with them was interesting. The other two so-called attractions, Ripply's Believe it or not and the Wax Works, were childish and just plain weird. There were a few interesting exhibits at Ripply's, but most of them were so bizarre that I was regularly asking myself whether I believed it or not, and often it was "not", although if they were true, then I guess the placed lived up to its name. A little validation would bolster credibility. The Wax Works was just underwhelming, with exhibits as mundane as a door with some famous person's name on it accompanied by a poor recording of their voice coming from the other side of the door. Nixon's likeness was there, but one only knew that by reading the sign next to him. It was so dark, you couldn't barely see him, as it was in most of the exhibits, so much so that I would have had a difficult time recognizing my own mother. Then there were the parts that tried to be a haunted house by having figures that I suppose were intended to represent spirits jump out at visitors in an effort to startle them or the exhibit attempting to create an illusion of evil and then daring the visitor to enter, when there really wasn't much of a choice. Maybe some people like that kind of stuff, but I was expecting to be awed by the realistic likenesses of famous people or well-known animals such as Trigger, Roy Roger's horse. I got more enjoyment from watching the kids trying to decide what to buy in the carmel corn shop down the street. I will not likely ever again visit any of the three "attractions" that make up Mariners Square, and I certainly won't recommend...
Read moreIf you're coming here just for Ripley's Believe It or Not, the Undersea Gardens, and the Wax Museum then you're reading may vary. If you're coming here to view than beautiful Newport Waterfront, then it's definitely a five-star View. It's situated right across from Newport Harbor, where you can see the commercial fishing boats coming in and observe the docks. Just to the right of the undersea Gardens on the pier sea lions like to hang out on the docks below, and you get a great view of them from above. Then of course, it's right near walking distance to most of the other places you would want to see on the old historic Bayfront in Newport. So even if Ripley's Believe It or Not, wax museum, and undersea Gardens haven't changed this area of Newport is always worth. The views and seafood are excellent, even if...
Read moreIt was amazing. I was happy to see on Saturday a ship from the show deadliest catch. The magestik. It was fun. But me and my parents were disappointed when the undersea garden was taken down. Otherwise it was fun. And me and my mom made fun of the sea lions by imitating them. We could only stay for the day. We wanted to bring our trailer but there were no places that we could that had room. But we still had fun whole it lasted. We tried to go to the aquarium but there were no more tickets. We live in salem so it's not like this was a one time thing. We can go again, and...
