THIS ABSOLUTELY CANT HAPPEN-
I am a HUGE advocate of customer service and it must be said that I had an absolutely horrible experience when I first walked in. I recently got married and purchased a band from a separate establishment but they recommended to get it sized to go to Barrys. My initial phone call was great and they answered all my questions.(I spoke with someone who was very nice).
When I got to the store I was greeted but the person who I spoke with over the phone but she was helping someone else and asked me to go to the front desk. I did and was greeted by a taller woman who was a little older. I had on a Cornell Sweater and immediately I noticed she looked at me with disdain.
Instead of conducting business she asked..."You went to Cornell"?? I then said no, but my good friend did and gave it to me". She then replied "Well did you hear what they said about the Jews"???
Like HUH? What does that have to do with the most important day of life..my wedding??? Her tone began to change and she tried to continue the convo. I stopped her and said the gentleman who gave this to me is actually Jewish. and she then replied "Well ask him about it..he should know"..
TERRIBLE way to conduct business. I didn't say anything at the time because I was afraid they would sabotage my ring.
The only reason I gave 3 stars is because when I called back to pick up the ring the guy was AMAZING! The job was done perfect and I had no issues but that lady really left a HORRIBLE taste in my mouth. Never should political issues be brought up to a customer especially one spending good money.

Read moreI love supporting small business but believe you can get better service at other local, small business jewelers. It bothers me to write this review but feel it is a must. I have been a long time customer of Barrys. My husband and I have spent over $45,000 over time and feel their service has went way down hill. Barry is a very nice person but his staff that has been with him forever is rude and gossip about their customers. Carol in his shop is extremely rude. I overnighted a gold band and paid for overnight and for it to be monogrammed. We were leaving to go on a trip for vow renewal 3 days later which they all were aware of and why they said I had to overnight it. No problem. I thought they closed at 7 so I got their at 6:22pm. They were closed. Apparently they closed at 5. No one responded or called to tell me it was even in for me to pick up. We left for our trip without the rings. We get back and my daughter goes to pick up the ring. They were so rude as they had started being in the past but this time I had enough. The ring was not engraved like it was supposed to be and they called me 4 times before the trip to confirm what it was to say and spelling, yet it wasn't done. They made the comment, they couldn't believe I sent them a facebook message at 9:00 at night and were so rude to my daughter. There is lots of gossip that goes on in the store among the staff. The Consumers. . I brought earnings in for a repair and when I picked them up to inspect. It still had the same flaws and the integrity of earnings was the same as when I brought them in. Once I questioned it and why it was not fixed he told me to not worry about the payment and to never return to store. LOL. Like what? This is after being a repeat customer for years...He also yelled at his young employee for telling me information that he didn't want me to know. Like how they did the work quickly bc I wanted it back in a timely manner for Xmas so they did what they could. Sooo. You basically tried to get over one on a customer. Glad I inspected them. Then he tried to explain why they couldn't be fixed because earing was ripped. Then tell me you can't fix them and call it that not charge me for something that couldn't be fixed in the first place. . . .Feel bad for his employees.
