Just before writing this, I saw there was another customer denied the very reason the store exists: candle-making. We had the exact same experience today, July 11th, 2024 at 3:15PM. We walked in and were told she had an appointment at 4 PM, so we should come back at that time, in order to make a candle. She gave a whole diatribe as to why we couldn’t make them at that time. Mind you, there was no one in the shop nor were they making candles. Below, you will see an email where they answered my question as to whether walk-ins were welcome. I saw online there were seats available at the time so I decided to walk-in, since we didn’t want to plan our whole day around this. We’ve been to candle bars before and this is by far the worst. I refuse to ever come back to this establishment again.
Update: In response to owner. While I understand the walk-in policy is not sit down right away, but the fact you had NINE open seats and couldn’t take us, that’s a problem. Then do not say you offer walk-ins. As defined by Webster dictionary, a walk-in is someone who walks in without an appointment and can be accommodated if space is available. Let me remind you, there were nine seats available. So it seems you need to change that “walk-ins welcome” on your website. I have been to a candle making bar and we also walked in without an appointment, the women were lovely and took us right away since they have the wax burning all day, therefore, they truly...
Read moreCiao Ogunquit is the CUTEST boutique! Danielle the owner is truly the kindest person! We hosted my sister’s bachelorette in Ogunquit. I was not sure what activity to do until I found Ciao’s Candle-Making as an idea. I reached out to Danielle about a month before the bachelorette and she responded right away! Any questions I asked, she answered so quickly. There were 10 girls & all of us are obsessed with our candles! It was the BEST experience with Danielle and her staff! They were SO kind, warming and welcoming to us! She accommodated a large group and even added more time to our appointment time! We truly enjoyed the Candle-Making and the Boutique. The clothes at the shop are amazing, too! There are even children’s clothing options. We had an AMAZING experience at Ciao Ogunquit! I will always stop in whenever I am in Ogunquit. Truly...
Read moreWe booked the candle making experience. I’ve done a few in the past, and typically they are quite fun. I am used to candle making classes involving some element of teaching about candles - the types of oils/waxes, the way scents layer, how to make a candle’s scents mix and match etc. There was none of this during the workshop. It was mostly a “pick your scent” from about 12-15 options, and then you get to write up a label, insert the wick and then mix the oils into the poured wax. It wasn’t “not fun” just seemed to be a bit too basic and lacked luster. The candles are a nice size for what you get price wise but the workshop could be a lot more interesting. Perhaps I was just expecting a bit too much, but feel this could have been a much...
