We chose this place because we had eaten there several times prior to the pandemic. Ideal location to walk to everything including The Oqunquit Playhouse which we did. Our room was large with a sitting room attached which was nice. The owners were friendly and welcoming. However this place needs some serious upgrades. Our room was clean but had tacky indoor/outdoor carpeting. Furniture very worn. Tiny bathroom with tiny corner shower. We are small so wasn’t a problem but definitely know some who wouldn’t fit. There was a soap/shampoo dispenser in the shower mounted for someone 6 feet tall. I’m 5’1”. Also if you’re very tall and sat on that toilet your knees would hit the wall. No sink. The sink was in the bedroom. No daily maid service even though we put the sign out. I suppose that’s gone by the wayside in many places since the pandemic.|The pub was nice and we did eat in the restaurant which was good but not as good as in previous years. Serving baked potatoes still wrapped in foil is more like a Longhorn Steakhouse thing and not a 5 Star restaurant. This place has so much potential. Just an FYI, there is no elevator and our room was up 2 flights of very steep stairs so make sure you are...

I don't want him to lose his job, but he really should be given some lessons on how to meet, greet and serve the public. His behaviour and what he said was beyond inappropriate (which he said to us after patronizing us, dressing us down for moving table as one of us had long legs that didn't fit...etc.) it was obvious that he was having a bad day and night, but he won't be making much money if he turns customers away as he did that night. R E S P E C T ..... he needs to learn and understand the meaning. Yes, the customer should be treated with respect, not indignation and condescension. Manager tried to fix it by finally offering us a table in bar area and shots,(were 70 somethings)lol. This is where we’d wanted to sit in first place , but were told they were too busy… even though we had a reservation and it was off season and there were a dozen empty tables (end April) all in all a very disagreeable experience when we were so looking forward to having fish and chips.
If you go, good luck. Be prepared it could be a fiasco. We ordered a good pizza from the corner and ate in our hotel...
