A few years ago, I stopped shopping at Sephora and switched to Ulta for most of my beauty products. I like Ulta because they often run promotions or send coupons in the mail, whereas I think I have only received a coupon once or twice from Sephora. However, EVERY time that I have had to return something, there has been an issue. I work full time and go to school full time, so I like to shop online. Unfortunately, the items don't always look as they do online. The most recent issue I had was that I ordered the $18 Mad About Mauve blush palette from Ulta Beauty and a $6 Morphe brush. I used $12 worth of my Ultamate Rewards Points and paid the difference. When I received it, I decided that I did not want to try it and brought it back to the store within a few days of receiving the package. I was going to exchange it for another item. Once I got up to the counter to exchange it, they would only offer $5 refunded to my card and $3 back in the points. So I guess I was just going to be out of pocket $10 and the cashier could not explain the discrepancy. In addition, not one employee seemed to care nor offered any sort of compensation for this difference? I finally became so frustrated, I just left. I contacted Ulta Guest Services who had the manager at this store eventually contact me regarding the issue. She then offered a $5 off coupon and promised to leave it at the registers for next time I returned to the store. I went back in on Saturday to purchase an item that was on sale for the 21 Days Of Beauty sale and mentioned the $5 off coupon to the cashier. She looked around and could not find it, asked the managers who had no knowledge of this and again - could not offer any sort of explanation or compensation for the inconvenience. I spend a LOT of money at Ulta throughout the year for gifts and personal products and would expect a little more from their Guest Services. Perhaps it's time to...
Read moreI shopped at this location today (15 January 2019) and noticed a promotion for Tarte Cosmetics, reading that a free gift would be given with any $35 of Tarte Cosmetic purchase. I opted to go with a concealer mascara. I couldn't find my shade on the sales floor, so I asked an associate if they had any back stock. They stated that they didn't have any but offered me the "Store to Door" option to ship it to my house for free. My immediate question would be if the this option would still be applicable to the promotion, and two associates confirmed that it would still count toward the gift. Upon bringing my chosen items to the counter, I explained to the cashier the situation that I had discussed with the other associates. She was unsure of the policy, therefore called her manager to the counter. I think it is important to note that while we were waiting for the manager, the cashier continued multiple times to run my card, due to machine issues, for the "Store to Door" order. After the manager arrived at the counter, the cashier explained her question and the manager responded with, "It doesn't count. This is an in-store only promotion." I informed her that two other associates had assured me that it would still apply. She rudely responded by saying, "Well, I am the only one who makes those decisions." So I told them that I wasn't going to purchase the rest of the Tarte items, but the cashier already completed the order. Upon the manager's instructions, I had to contact customer service, myself, and cancel an order that should not have been placed in the beginning.
As someone who has worked in retail for many years, I like to think that I am very patient when it comes to customer service, but my experience today was absolutely awful and will not be returning to that location...
Read moreI’m always being profiled in this branch. I think it’s because of my race. They always make me feel like I’m out of place and that I can’t afford the things they sell. Unlike the other reviews, I didn’t get pestered and I didn’t get followed around but one time, when I was at the counter, Skylar asked me if I’m sure I wanted to buy the roll on perfume because it’s 20 bucks. I wouldn’t have brought it to the counter if I didn’t want it. I don’t remember the name of this employee but the other time, I asked if they could help me find my shade and they made me feel like it was such an inconvenience. They only tried about 3 foundations and all of them were so much lighter than my skin color. They just gave me a bottle of one of the foundations we tried on and left. I was still sitting waiting for them because they never said anything before leaving. They didn’t even offer a make-up remover after. I just went to Sephora since it’s just a block away after this to get my foundation shade because I felt uncomfortable. This is the only establishment that consistently made me feel like a second class citizen, not to mention I’m also a Diamond member. Needless to say, I’m canceling my Ultamate Mastercard and will not purchase anything from Ulta anymore. I don’t even feel safe using my actual account to post this because aside from the staff, their manager, Sherri, also treated me very poorly. I thought she was great because of all the reviews about her here but maybe because I’m not white that’s why I got treated differently. To people of color, please shop somewhere else. It’s not safe here. I am not one to post reviews since I also worked in the service industry for years but this is ridiculous and it...
